The Square Copenhagen hotel garners mixed feedback, with its central location being a highlight for guests eager to explore the city, despite some street noise disturbances. While the rooms are commended for cleanliness and comfort, they are also criticized for their small size and noise issues.
Although the staff is often lauded for their friendly service, the hotel's value is questioned due to high prices and lackluster housekeeping. Amenities like breakfast receive applause, but some guests were left wanting more from the lounge and cleanliness standards.

The Square is ideally situated in Copenhagen, almost next door to Tivoli Gardens & City Hall.
Our reason for staying was our sons wedding at City Hall - which was amazing...so many happy memories made.
Comfortable/clean rooms (we had two), friendly & helpful staff. We would all defiantly stay again - thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable

Just returned from a four day stay at the Square Hotel in Copenhagen. We had two rooms for four adults. From the moment we arrived the hotel was excellent. We were greeted warmly by the lady on reception and informed we had been upgraded as members of Expedia's VIP programme. This also unlocked access to the top floor lounge with free drinks and nibbles.
The rooms are very comfortable, ours both had three large windows, nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, flat screen tvs, a large wardrobe, steamer, hairdryer and free wifi. Everything we could need. One room faced out onto the hotel opposite and if we leant out a little, the main square. The other view was not quite so nice as it was at the rear of the hotel, however this room was slightly larger and we werent there for the views from the hotel window! Rooms were dark and quiet at night time.
The lounge was exceptional, Copenhagen is quite pricey and to get our drinks and food included in the lounge was a nice bonus we were not expecting. The hotel offers Cava, Red and White wine, a variety of soft drinks and snacks.
Location wise, you really could not get much better, conveniently located at the main square, walkable to Tivoli, the palaces, the shopping street and harbour.
Would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The first thing to think of when booking a hotel on a vacation is either the location or the proximity to the Train station if you plan to use the latter a lot. Well, this hotel has both! It’s in the heart of Copenhagen, just across the street from the Central station and the fabulous Tivoli, and right next to the magnificent Axel towers. From there, I literally walked everywhere!! Nyhavn, SMK museum, Rosenborg & Christiansborg, Rundetaarn and Christiania! It was really great and I couldn’t have picked a better hotel.
The professional treatment began as soon as I entered to the hotel. I have booked a small single room with a view of the inner yard, but the receptionist informed me that they upgraded me to a double room with a street view on the 4th floor for free! It was amazinggggg and it never happened to me before though I am a frequent traveler.
The room was very clean and the toilet as well. There’s a FLOS table lamp inside and the mattress was really comfortable.
There is a 7 Eleven supermarket on the ground floor, a souvenir shop and some restaurants.
The only minor setback was the hottt water, it wasn’t that good, eventhough needed in the freezing temperature in Copenhagen at this time of year (Feb). Also, i have to mention that the windows aren’t soundproof, and I could hear what was going on down the street and the bus station across the street.
Overall, the 3 days were great and I highly recommned this hotel to everyone visiting Copenhagen.

Dear Sam3400 Thank you for your review. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed the central and convenient location of the hotel, which make sightseeing easy and enjoyable as you mention. It is very unfortunate that the water temperature was not satisfactory to you and we apologize for the inconvenience and nuisance it must have been for you. You are always welcome to come to the Front Desk during your stay if you have any issues in the room, then our staff will do their utmost to solve it to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Nice, modern hotel, very central to metro, attractions and main train station.
Friendly reception staff.
Rooms are small but clean - a little hit and miss with removing the used cups and stocking mini bar but the cleaning of the room itself was good.
Room had a kettle, one cup, (no spoon) and instant coffee.
Tiny mini bar rather than a proper fridge.
Lighting in the room is a little poor and safe is tiny - will not fit a laptop.
Bathroom is decent with usual supplies and good shower pressure.
TV is perpendicular to the bed so hard\impossible to watch.
Breakfast was a buffet and was tradition European style with cheese, cold cuts, fruit, salad, bacon, mini hot dogs, scrambled and boiled eggs, cereal, bread and pastries - worth getting as Copenhagen is very expensive for food and drink.
I would recommend it for the price considering how expensive Copenhagen is.

Before I review the hotel itself I have to say that the MAIN selling point is the staff. They were all amazing, unfortunately I didn't catch any of their names but the energy and enthusiasm they had was brilliant. We were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble!!! Great local advice where required and exceptional levels of service.
The hotel is a good quality city centre location, with walking access to many of the major attractions. We paid a lot of money for a taxi from the airport when we arrived but discovered its just as quick to get the metro from across the road back to the airport for a fraction of the cost.
The rooms aren't huge but had enough space for us to stay for a couple of nights with all amenities that we would have expected and were clean and finished to a good standard
The breakfast had a wide selection of Continental and English options and of course included Danish Pastries and some fabulous bread
I'd have given the hotel a 4 - 4.5 but the staff definitely made it a 5 for us!
Additionally, a 10 minute walk away from the hotel is a restaurant called Karla, where we were recommended to visit. We aren't massive fans of fish, which featured quite heavily on the menu, but it was wonderful and well worth a visit for authentic Danish cuisine
I would definitely recommend this hotel and am already planning to return later this year

We had the most wonderful stay at The Square. The hotel exceeded our expectations and we most certainly will be back! We chose to upgrade the room prior to arriving, so that we had use of the executive lounge and found this to be great value for money. Our room (610) was spacious and had a wonderful balcony that we used (despite the cold!) It was my partners birthday and the hotel provided us with a complementary bottle of champagne on ice, which was a wonderful way to start the evening. We found all of the staff friendly and very obliging for any requests that we made. The location is perfectly central and we also took a train to Lund in Sweden (about an hour away) and would thoroughly recommend this for an alternative day out (don't forget your passport!). Big thank you to The Square for making our short break so memorable

After reading mixed reviews about noise and not knowing the best location to stay for our first time in Copenhagen, we were very pleased with this hotel choice.
The staff were friendly and very helpful, filling our water bottles and giving us advice on restaurants.
Our room was up on the 6th floor by the breakfast room. It was so quiet you couldn’t here a thing, no noise at all from breakfast area or from the busy street square. Room itself was clean and pretty modern.
Breakfast was nice, good choice of food, only criticism would be the hot food options were not very warm at all, maybe some heat lamps would be better than current hot plate.
Hotel location was perfect for us, walking distance to all tourist spots.
Would recommend and stay again.

The Square was a lovely hotel with great decor and a fantastic location on the town hall square. It was let down by very random room service. In spite of being a triple room we only had two of everything. Every day we had to go down and get the third person’s towels , glasses, mug and teabags. Also there were only teabags when we arrived, so we thought they did not do coffee, then on the last day we randomly got coffee.
We had a triple room, but when the sofa bed was out you could not walk round the bottom to the fridge. You also could not sit on the chair and use the desk. It was not just a nominal payment to have a triple room, so we did not feel that we had been given good value for money.

Excellent experience at the Square. The staff at check-in were great (very friendly and provided great direction on the use of amenities of the property).
The Good:
This hotel is within walking distance of nearly everything one wants to access in Copenhagen. If you can't walk there, the train station is only a few blocks away, and it is easy to navigate areas outside of Copenhagen, including the airport). Rooms are well-appointed and have all amenities one would need while traveling. The beds are firm (if you don't like a firm bed, you may struggle with sleeping comfortably). Elevators are quick. We upgraded to include the breakfast, and it was ample and filling with options for Americans and European travelers alike. We also had the opportunity to have access to the VIP portion on the 6th floor, and this was a great way to wind down each evening.
The Bad:
The only bad thing is that there are a few bars outside the property, and the noise carries up in the evenings and early mornings (one is open until 5am). So depending on the location of your room and if you are a light sleeper, this may be problematic. With that said, the hotel can't control this therefore, you should not hold it against them.
I would highly recommend this hotel and be sure to upgrade for breakfast and the VIP components if you are able. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Copenhagen.

The Square hotel is located about 100m from the metro station making it perfect for catching the train in from the airport with heaps of bags!
Check in was quick and easy and found the staff very friendly. It was a very busy place, but the lines moved swiftly.
The room was a little small (there was four of us and I was very glad we had interconnecting rooms as we wouldn't have fitted in 1 family room. The sofa bed looked very small.
However, there was a mini bar, the beds were comfy and the room spotless. The bathroom was clean and the shower was nice.
The rooms were made up every day
Breakfast was fabulous..... however it was very busy and people would literally elbow you out of the way to get to the buffet. We didn't let the kids go up to the buffet by the end of the trip as they were shoved out of the way by other guests. However the food was plentiful and the selection amazing.
There was no food room service which was a real pity - but there were plenty of options near the hotel, including a starbucks and a couple of supermarkets.
The hotel it self was really central and found we could walk nearly every where.
I'd definitely stay here again if I was in Copenhagen.

Dear WaterfordKookie, Thank you for taking time to review your stay with us. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that the rooms were comfortable and spotless. Hotel rooms are to the smaller side in Scandinavia, especially comparing to other countries such as The US. It is great to hear that our connecting room made your stay more comfortable for you and your family. We are constantly trying our best to improve our selves. Due to the crowdedness in our breakfast buffet, we have implemented a booking system, which gives our guests possibility to book a table in advanced. We hope this will help with the logistics. Even though we do not have room service, then there are several of food ordering apps, with great restaurant selections. Our front desk will then happily bring the food up to the room as well as cutlery. We at The Square hope to see you back very soon. Best Regards Liza Knudsen Front Office Supervisor THE SQUARE

The hotel has a breakfast that meets most Bistro standards. But you are in Rådhuspladsen (city square) located steps from City hall and Tivoli. There are alot of small cafes in the area. Espresso house is a 30second walk from the H.C Andersens hotel exit. Tivoli food hall is less than 5 minutes away on foot. Cafe Vivaldi is the same distance with a great breakfast in the same direction just opposite side of the street from Tivoli. But to be honest I've found really good breakfast pastries at the 7-Eleven attached to the hotel.
I am not sure, sorry
Yes, there are lifts.
