Probably the only spot on Earth where you can sit in, rest in, sleep in and admire so many pieces of Danish mid-century vintage furniture. Hotel Alexandra is a small, authentic, boutique hotel in Copenhagen - just around the corner of the City Hall Square, the Latin Quarter, the main shopping area and Tivoli Garden. Hotel Alexandra has over the past years collected a large collection of the world famous Danish mid-century vintage furniture and decorated the rooms with them. The rooms also have textiles, wallpapers and other gems that take you back in time to experience living like the design loving Danes did it in the 50’s and 60’s. As soon as you step into the Hotel Alexandra, you step into a time bubble – you can relax in the lobby, where during evening hours you can put on your favourite vinyl record from our selection, enjoy a free glass of wine and take a moment to take a closer look at one of our many designer books from our lobby library, all the while being surrounded by the finest Danish designer furniture.

Lovely design hotel with themed rooms and beautifully curated lobby. We stayed in a 60s themed room. Helpful staff and an eco policy where you get 100 Kr drinks voucher if you don’t have your room cleaned. Perfect location near the town hall square, Tivoli and easy walk to all attractions and central station.

This is one of the hotels where I keep coming back again and again (maybe because they have this agreement with our university with some special rates!). It is very conveniently placed near the main town-hall, and although on a very busy street, the noise level from the traffic is minimal. The rooms are minimally designed with some some classic furniture and have all the basic amenities. However, the bed mattress is becoming slaggy and slaggy over years of use, and it will be nice to replace thems with more firm ones soon. The breakfrast arrangement with the neighboring restaurant needs improvement in terms of making freshly cooked eggs and better quality sausages and the choice of cheeses. Over all, quite a satisfied customer I am.

Dear Suresh R Thank you very much for once again staying with us at Hotel Alexandra - it is always a pleasure to hear from our returning guests. I am very glad to hear that you always enjoy your stay with us. We are continuously replacing the mattresses with new, firmer ones but we will definitely be extra observant in the future - thank you for letting us know. We will keep your feedback in mind when working on improving the breakfast selection. We look forward to welcoming you to Hotel Alexandra again - hopefully soon! Kind regards Anna Hotel Alexandra

I wasn't thrilled with my stay here. The hotel is on an extremely busy 6 lane highway. Sure, it's within walking distance to the train station, Tivoli Gardens, and a busy shopping street, but the area has kind of a Times Square vibe. The rooms are minuscule, and the bed had a small blanket that didn't cover the entire bed for two people. The hotel had no extra blankets available...! The two pillows were tiny and flat, and you guessed correctly, there were no extra pillows available from the hotel either. I used some towels to bolster the pillow. The service was generally lackluster and disinterested. Also, we coincidentally stayed the weekend World Pride was being held in Copenhagen, and the pounding bass from the event down the street reverberated in the tiny room until 12:30 at night, two nights in a row... so check the city's events calendar. I originally picked this place because the design museum is closed until 2022, and thought this would be a fun way to experience some Danish design... the lobby is lovely, but it wasn't worth it to me. Wish I had stayed someplace else. The restaurant is very cute, I will say that.

A top hotel if you like design and the incredible herritage Denmark has in this domain. Rooms are nice, staff is very friendly (English is perfect) and the location in the centre of Kopenhagen is AAA. The breakfast in the hotel is good and the same place is a restaurant in the evening with local Danish specialities. We stayed one night in the Verner Pantion suite and it had the admosphere it promissed. Glad we were there!

We heard of the Alexandra thorough an episode of Travel Man when Noel Fielding accompanied Richard Ayoade for 48 hours in Copenhagen. Like them, we were impressed by the design theme of the hotel and the friendly welcome, including a free glass of reasonable wine on arrival. Our room faced the busy Hans Christian Andersen Boulevard but the double glazed windows kept out the noise almost completely. The room which was a deluxe double had ample space full of Danish designed seating, as well as a very large and comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom, and a small 'entrance hall' with a wardrobe. We could see the Government building and the Tivoli is just a couple of minutes walk away, so it's ideally situated for tourism. There's an excellent cafe a few minutes away - The Little Yellow House is the translation - where we had a few lunches, and a delightful place for breakfast called Next Door Cafe a similar distance away. Also close by is a craft beer bar called The Tap House, which has a very impressive range of beers, and a little further away towards the meat packing district is the original Mikkeller bar, which has a smaller range but is most definitely worth visiting. Staff were very helpful and welcoming, and allowed us to store our bags downstairs on our last day while we visited the beautiful Royal Palace and the Carlsberg museum, both are not to be missed. This will be our base on all future visits to Copenhagen.
