We recently stayed four nights at the Victory Hotel and had a fantastic time. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet - very relaxing for our short trip to Stockholm. We arrived late at night to the hotel, but had not eaten on the flight and all nearby restaurants were closed. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was...

This hotel is in Gamla Stan on a cobblestone street, about 2 minutes from the underground metro. It is surrounded by cafes, and restaurants, and is walking distance to most areas. Also easy access to the ferries. An older characterful building with comfortable rooms, has a number of good restaurants and a bar. The beds are comfortable and the Wifi...

So this hotel is fantastic. The family that runs it have 3 hotels in Stockholm, the Horation Nelson, the Lady Hamilton and the Victory Hotel. All of them are chock full of loads of interesting Naval memorabilia, ships in bottles, sailors boxes, bits of brass work, a bust of Nelson in the victory. The hotel is an old building, so...

This is the ultimate Sunday lunch destination when you are on the road. We did not book and just dropped in. The restaurant was fully booked and we ended up eating in the public bar. This ultimately what made this such an enjoyable experience. The staff and local people that we interacted with were fun, knowledgeable and very inclusive. The...

Stayed at Victory Hotel for a business trip and everything was fine, great service, good breakfast (although the restaurant seemed rather dark in the basement), nice but rather small rooms, good bathroom though. All the hallways and everything are really packed with stuff which is interesting and rather innovative but not my style.

We had spent a while looking for a smaller hotel that would give us the feel of stopping somewhere special in Stockholm and not just in another large chain hotel. The Victory was just what we wanted. It is unique and has the naval theme running throughout the whole hotel. We liked the position of the hotel in Gamla Stan...

A delight to have stayed there. Comfortable modest sized rooms but well furnished with naval memorabilia everywhere (Nelson links). Very helpful staff. Good breakfast. Wonderfully situated in Gamla Stan (the island on which Stockholm was founded) Narrow streets running east to west with even narrower connecting ones. Wide selection of shops and restaurants. No multiples. Well positioned for sightseeing links....

Comfortable hotel in a great spot with an easy walk to museums, restaurants, pubs, and shops. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely and spacious room with interesting nautical-themed pieces of history throughout the hotel. We enjoyed walking through beautiful Gamla Stan on a snowy day, and were grateful for a short walk back to the hotel to warm up before...

I used to stay at the Victory Hotel for business for many years, service was attentive and impeccable... there must be a new owner, now they have installed a fashionable bar downstairs and as a guest you are not guaranteed a seat and have to go outside, worse there is no room service you have to go and collect your...

I recommend this hotel. It is a hotel based on a naval theme located in Gamla Stan. It has easy access to museums, restaurants, shopping, and sights. My wife and I stayed here on the tail end of a trip to Stockholm and Copenhagen. We originally had a deluxe room but the second night I ungraded to their largest suite....

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and one bar in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Omakase, The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge. ... more   less
