The rooms are really small, but clean and confortable. The location is great you can get easily to the tunnelbana or even by walk in the coolest place in Stockholm. Breakfast was continental, I've to say essential.

Great location (in the middle of Old Town), very decent, clean, but compact rooms. Typical, but tasty breakfast (coffee could be better though). Noise was not really a problem, but my room wasn't placed in front of the street. General good value for its money. One noticeable minus is lack of air conditioning.

Walkable from central station so easy access from airport. Great location in old town close most attractions and a metro station. Lots of restaurants. Good free breakfast, friendly staff. I was in a single room which was VERY SMALL. Pretty good wifi, a few English tv channels. If u do not mind small rooms this place is great.

Great location in the old town near loads of shops, bars & restaurants. The friendly staff had our keys waiting for us, and check-in was easy...all hotels should be this efficient! Our room was a good size considering its old location in what is, apparently, the world's narrowest hotel. Unfortunately, the bed was rather soft (back achingly) and had all...

Hej RoadWrangler. Thank you so much for your detailed and thorough review. We have of course listened to your feedback and we have immediately changed all of our shower curtains and housekeeping is working hard now to make all the bathrooms super clean and smelling fresh. We are also replacing all of our feather duvets and pillows gradually during this...

We stayed here one night and being in the old town it was nice just to walk Around the streets. So close to palace and restaurants. The staff were very helpful, friendly, nice and happy to answer any questions. We spent some time on the roof top terrace which was lovely at sunset and a great perk for the hotel....

Great atmosphere in Gamla Stan! This hotel tries to be unique and original but something is missing... The rooms are tiny but clean and the staff is very friendly. Could be good value for money! You can book for free the access to the sauna at their sister hotel (Lady Hamilton's, around the corner).

We liked the location near lots of restaurants. It was a very busy area with many tourists. The rooms were small and didn't have any AC. So you had to keep windows open :( I thought it could have been cleaner, especially the public areas, elevator, etc. The breakfast was ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I stayed four nights at this hotel during a recent trip to Stockholm. Located on the island of Gamla Stan, it has great atmosphere but is surprisingly loud at night, even though most of the stores and restaurants are closed. I will caveat that by saying there were a couple different events going on in the city the weekend I...

Not so good location, 10 min walking to the closest merto and bus station. This is in the middle of the Gamla Stan but nothing interesting there exept to shops and very expensive restaurants. You can stay far far away from the center but close to metro station and it will be much cheaper and convinient. Bad value to money,...

I stayed here for 4 nights. The location is excellent, right in the centre of Gamla Stan so easy to reach all the main sights, the quays for the boats etc. I can see being directly on the Main Street would be noisy but I was to the side and it was just fine. My room was small but quite...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lord Nelson Hotel is an intimate, friendly and pleasant hotel right in the heart of Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town. You find the hotel on the main street, close to the city centre and all the capital’s sights and attractions. But the hotel itself is also an attraction, as it contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques – passionately gathered through the decades by the owner family Bengtsson. All rooms have been designed and decorated to resemble cabins on a ship. The building dates from the 17th century and at just under six metres wide, this property is undoubtedly Sweden’s narrowest hotel. In the Summer time the hotel guests can enjoy a Beautiful view on Poop Deck, the roof top terrace. The Continental Breakfast has an organic a fairtrade profile, and the hotel offers free coffe and tea service in the library on the first floor. ... more   less
