Amazing hotel!!The location is perfect.!Very beautiful and nicely decorated hotel. Staff were really nice and made excellent recommendations. I am extremely happy with the value. The bar area was also really nice - we had dinner at the restaurant which was delicious and would recommend.
Birger Jarl provides comfort and hygiene in an excellent location including a great breakfast. And including a competent staff. For the right price. I've visited Stockholm on and off for the last 20 years and this is the best deal for you and your significant other.
This hotel is not owned by any big chain and you can tell. We were offered a double in the old, lower parts of the hotel and I can recommend that option. It was really nice to be able to stand at the window and watch city life in Kungsgatan. The room wasn’t too big, but had what you need and was clean and neat. Beds really good. Breakfast is on the better side, apart from the bread that is well below par in Stockholm. (Thanks to the fantastic crew at Speceriet for giving us a bread doggybag for the second breakfast :-) A word about the lobby. For me, a lobby bar is a place where you have a drink in peace before going out, or put your feet up when returning “home” again. My son Stefano booked a room for 4 nights in this hotel, from August 19th to August 23rd, but his flight (EasyJet) has been cancelled because of the crisis created after this COVID situation. He has called the hotel (no way to get an answer by email) and they refused to reimburse him (because of, they said, their internal policy) and offered a voucher to be spent WITHIN YEAR 2020! The voucher is in their right, but putting END OF 2020 as condition sounds not practicable and tricky, during a pandemic situation still present in several countries. It is a bit unfair and incorrect, from my point of view. Just as reference, the same issue occured for the second part of his trip, in Denmark, but, after the flight cancellation and despite the similar original cancellation policies…
Really impressed with the hotel. 10 minute walk from the city centre, great service, friendly, eloquent staff... Room was clean and tidy, all in all a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was good, certainly no complaints volume wise. I don't think it is always as sunny as it was, at times the weather was almost middle Eastern, good for seeing this fantastic city in the best light.
