Neighbourhood
Norrmalm
Norrmalm is Stockholm’s most central and busiest neighborhood. It’s home to the main shopping street, Drottninggatan, and to Stockholm icons like the Sergels Torg glass obelisk, the famous Hay Market with its Carl Milles sculptures, and the Hötorget Skyscrapers, a sight on every other Stockholm postcard. Norrmalm is also home to Sweden’s most traditional department stores Nordiska Kompaniet and Åhléns City juxtaposed with Stockholm’s most modern shopping mall, Mood Stockholm. Visitors to this area get to experience the unique Swedish philosophy of protecting cultural heritage while also staying on top of fashion innovation and modern architecture.

We had an unscheduled stop at the Grand Central hotel due to travel chaos caused by heavy snow fall. On arriving in Stockholm our flight was cancelled and with our luggage still airside we had to find somewhere that was close as it was well below freezing outside. The hotels

The hotel was right on the other side of the Central Station on Vasagatan. Easy to get to, well located, clean even if they were renovating. Breakfast had a good selection and the staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely would recommend staying there.

Everything was perfect: location, room, breakfast, staff. The only thing that wasn't 100% was the bathroom temperature (not the water, just the room). It was quiet cold... But I surely recommend the hotel!!!

The hotel is very conveniently located, T-Centralen Metro Station (blue line), quite cozy, and hospitable. The room is small but comfortable and warm enough. The bathroom especially the shower requires a small update, and the hotel has already begun work on the renovation of

Not in the room type I was staying in because I recall one day the body soap that was used up was replaced by body lotion by mistake. I think I was in the standard double room or whatever they call it. I did bring my own toiletries fortunately.

Is it a family friendly hotel?
I believe it is, I was travelling alone when I stayed there, but the staff are incredibly friendly and I am sure they would accommodate all guests equally.

Hi Echoing what others have said, visit Gamla Stan although there are a lot of the same tourist type shops there it is a lovely area to walk around. A little bakery called Brod & Salt is a must visit the cinnamon buns are just delicious. The town hall is a lovely visit and well worth a visit, although I think the tower is only open during the summer months but it is a lovely spot to visit. Vasa museum is amazing, I'm still in awe of the ship being preserved almost in its entirety. The area of Sodermalm is a good place to walk around with small shops and cafes. The Vasa museum and ABBA museum are in an area called Djurgarden which is lovely to walk around. I did enjoy the ABBA museum and it is interactive must I did feel it was a little expensive. You will have a fab time, enjoy
