We spent a total of three nights at the hotel before and after a Baltic cruise. The 'superior' room wasn't huge, but there was ample room for two adults and a child. Service in all parts of the hotel was excellent. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the concierge extremely efficient in dealing with our requests. We ate... More

Spent 3 nights in Hotel Rival in mid-July. Great hotel with fun design and solid service. The nice thing about this place is that it lives up to what you hope a cool Stockholm hotel will feel like. The price was a tad high on our stay, but given overall Stockholm prices (esp. for Americans) and the good quality your... More

We had a superior room overlooking the road as for a special occasion and stayed 6 nights. Lovely and clean, housekeeping superb and rooms modern and enough space to put all clothes. Bathroom was great with powerful shower and nice quality fitting including a deep bath. Good location for getting around with Metro 5 minutes walk away. NEEDED THE WALK... More

Stayed at this hotel a little over a week, very good service, clean, within walking distance to many sights, not too far from local transportation, and nice park just out front. Very helpful staff and great breakfast. Enjoyed our stay.

We chose the Hotel Rival because of the reviews of other members. We really enjoyed this hotel. The location is close to a metro station, and one can also walk to many nearby sites. The room was adequately sized by European standards (although we did have a superior room rather than a standard). The bathroom was modern and functional. Our... More

We loved this hotel. Lovely helpful staff at the front desk, great restaurants. We had a room with a view of the park in front - perfect. Very well designed room, great bed, beautiful bath. We walked everywhere. Ferry docks to get over to the Vasa are just down the street. Old town an easy walk, National Museum and Modern... More

This hotel is unique ~ a renovated, art deco cinema with great attention to detail and quality service. If you are an ABBA fan, there is some great memorabilia too (it's owned by Benny from Abba!). We stayed in one of the larger rooms (with a balcony) which was lovely. A fold up bed was provided for our son and... More

Very helpful front of house. Amongst other things they explained the Stockholm taxi pricing problem, deregulation that works for the locals but does leave the tourist exposed. Always look for the number in black on yellow in the rear window., it's the price of a 10 minute, 15 km ride (or the other way round). Low 300s is good but... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the Rival hotel. It is a very modern hotel with helpful staff but our room was so tiny. We did see our friends room which would have been great but ours was tiny. It is a long walk to old city and most sights. Great bars clean and free wi fi. Breakfast was included... More

Staying in Mariatorget

Neighbourhood Profile
Mariatorget
This rather quiet neighborhood revolves around a postcard-like park with a dramatic fountain in its center and is definitely one of Stockholm’s showcase neighborhoods. Mariatorget, a central residential area, is the best Stockholm has to offer when it comes to juxtaposing architectural masterpieces with sophisticated art galleries, coffee shops and bars. Stockholmers love to spend their weekends in the park or one of the nearby coffee shops, so come to Mariatorget to meet the locals. The northern part of Mariatorget boasts historic buildings, beautiful cobblestone streets, and one of Stockholm’s best observation decks, Monteliusvägen, from where you can see an amazing view of the city hall and Stockholm’s old town.
