Booked a room and agreed to check in later. Got the code for the gate and was promised a room, only to find that the room was locked. There were no staff anywhere and they weren't answering any calls. Luckely I booked through hotels.com, so the people their found me a new hotel and spared me a potential cold sleep in the car...
A private room, deasent breakfast, OK beds and a good location. It's not five stars but you get your money's worth. If your looking for a budget options for a night or two, I'm pleased with what I got.
Old appartment turned into hoel with so little as possible renovation done.Noisy sorroundings, old windows do not keep the noise out.. The noise came from the street, railroad , and from the hotel corridor ( people passing, doors closing, people talking ). No table where you can do your office work . The receptionist was not that friendly - just the plain coldish paperwork processing of check in trying to do least work as possible, and nothing else matters. No fridge to keep your food or drink in the room . Small bathroom. Thanks to previous reviews, I was prepared for the absence of a lift, otherwise, I'll be dragging my 15 kilo luggage to the third floor. No hair dryer in the room? Hand written receipt ( !! )
The room was basic but clean and had a sink but no bathroom (like specified beforehand, so no problem). We never had to queue for the shared bathroom and they were clean enough but we never had hot water during our stay. Breakfast was ok.
This hotel apparently has rooms that lack shower and possibly also lack WC, as both exist in the corridor. My room had ensuite WC and Shower, the room was large and with a nice sofa sitting arrangement. The bed was comfortable. Two twin beds are separated by a nightstand, not to be pushed together per the house rules. The breakfast was a little simple, especially the bread was ho-hum, but it was perfectly nourishing and had all the basics. I would have given this hotel at least one more star, maybe two more, since it is inexpensive and thus expectations are lower, were it not for two crucial lacking features: The bathroom has no shower gel, nor shampoo. There is liquid handsoap, so I washed myself, and my hair, with that. There is no hairdryer! As a result, I attended the funeral of a dear friend in a mighty odd hairdo. Note: There is no restaurant or coffeeshop in the hotel, and no staff at night. The room key also opens the front door. This is a budget hotel, but not at all bad if you know to carry your own shampoo, shower gel, and a hair dryer!…
It is just very old apartments made into a basic hotel. Very old and sparsely furniture, which does not make you feel welcome at all. I stayed there for 3 nights and both my bedrooms were located out to a busy street and a railroad with freight trains running all night. Did not get much sleep, since the very old windows did not keep the noise out. Also no black curtains were available so the room was light up by the street lights outside.
Simple but with everything you need. Nice that breakfast was included. Very close to the train station and to the city center, easy to reach by foot. Rooms clean. Very peaceful and quite cheap. Staff very helpful.
We stayed at Ostergyllen for three nights recently. It is clean but outdated and unwelcoming. There was a very odd smell on the stairs, not sure what it was but it was certainly unpleasant. Breakfast was very basic and offered little choice. The room had no safe so we felt it necessary to take valuables out with us. Reception was not manned in the afternoons so we felt unable to risk leaving our luggage at the hotel for the period between checking out and leaving the city.
This hotel is mostly just old apartments just a bit changed to be hotel rooms. Poorly furnitured and still with kitchens but with no equipment whatsoever. They also have strange rules, för example if you use a room as single guest and but sometinhs on the other bed, they will charge you for a double room. It was also forbidden to move any furniture in the room... All those odd rules make you not feels welcome. In half the hotel you have to get out on the street and walk 100 meter to the next part to be able to get breakfast (that was quite poor to).
Imagine you are in a movie. You are the hero of it in the 70's. You have to sleep in a hotel. You are at Ostergyllen! Personnel: ok Breakfast: good Madress: ok Shuters: useless, too fine to hide sunlight in may. Bath room and toilets: middle I stayed 2 nights, so the first morning I let my dirty (really dirty) bath towel hung... it hasn't been changed! So I had to use it again tomorrow. It was noisy because of a bad isolation between corridor and rooms. Useful if you come by train. 2 min far away from the rail station.
