I booked a standard room as I normally do with Booking.com but directly with Elite this time and was offered a de luxe room upgrade at an additional SEK300 which I gladly accepted. However, 11 hours later when I am on a flight from Cape Town this offer was withdrawn for unknown reasons. When arriving I was instead provided with the tiniest room I have ever stayed in with a 90 cm bed. I am a big boy so not comfortable at all. Lessons learned: 1. Do not offer something you cannot provide and especially do not withdraw the offer when it is too late for the customer to make alternative arrangements, 2. I will go back to booking with Booking.com. On the plus side staff are nice and friendly, the breakfast is good as is the restaurant.
My wife & I took a min-vacation July 2022 and stayed 3 nights at Elite Hotel. The location is great, right in the center of Linköping, with a fantastic choice of restaurants, bars and close to all of Linköping's main attractions like the Cathedral and castle. The hotel was very clean, well maintained and felt fresh & modern. A warm welcome awaited for us at the reception, the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great, good choice of hot and cold dishes. The only very minor quibble is that the hotel car park is in a different building. A bit confusing for me when I arrived, but the reception staff quickly helped me out. We had a great stay and recommend this hotel.
Having given the Elite Linköping just three stars, I should perhaps start by saying that I actually liked this hotel and, in the highly unlikely event of my being in Linköping again, would be happy to stay there, though I would set my expectations a bit lower. The hotel is an old building, a bit faded but with a quirky charm. Stairs and corridors seem to run in every direction though the signposting is good (it needs to be!) The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful in that formal way one expects of Swedes. The reason for the three stars comes down to the room. I do not know if my room is typical, I hope that it is not, but if it is, as a four star, the hotel needs to get its act together. Where to start? My room was one of just six or so on the top floor. It seemed to be above the level of the main roof. The lift only goes to the third floor so getting to the fourth involves climbing a short spiral staircase, something that could be a problem if one was carrying heavy luggage or was unsteady on one’s legs. I arrived at 1.30 in the morning after a nightmarish 36 hours in Amsterdam airport and the first problem I encountered was that the room light did not come on when I pressed the switch inside the door. This was not surprising as (as I soon discovered) there was no light in the socket in the ceiling. So I had to use the light on my iPhone to find one of the table lamps. The room was well equipped and the bed comfortable enough, though with those single person duvets that Nordic hotels seem to favour. I have never been a fan of these. Apart from the main light, the television gave up the ghost on the second day. There is an option to “go green” and volunteer not to have your room made up at all – a good idea in my opinion, though it would not suit everybody. The real problem was the bathroom. There was a tiny sink with no plug. Nor were any facecloths supplied. Trying to shave in such circumstances without getting water everywhere is a challenge. The shower was fine, but the shower gel bottle refused to cooperate. It took me about two minutes to extract the soap from its wrapping (I was, to be fair, running on about 2 hours sleep in the preceding 24) and was so sharp at the corners that I actually succeeded in cutting myself on it thus bleeding onto the floor – a first in my long experience. The towels were thin and worn and need replacing. On the plus side, the room was blissfully quiet and I slept well despite losing the duvet overboard a couple of times. The breakfast is OK with a reasonable choice except in the fruit department and there was no hot chocolate option for us chocoholics, but there was a waffle maker and some local delicacies for the brave. There is a sauna and gym (on the same fourth floor), but I did not have time to try either of them.…
Although the weather was not particularly hot my room was unbearably hot on arrival. No air conditioning window only opens 3 inches so entire night extremely uncomfortable. Much noise outside until after 3am so no sleep at all.
Excellent hotel location, right in town centre. There are supermarkets and dining options within under 5 minutes walking. Stayed with 3 friends for 3 nights in two deluxe twin rooms. Room is spacious but design is poor - beds are decent single size, but they were placed side by side with little walking space. The 'living room' side with sofa and TV console can be smaller to give bed side more space. Bathroom is nice and big with tub. Breakfast area is very spacious with decent variety. Problem is rooms have no air con - which should seem ok if you open the windows given linkoping weather. But the hotel is in town centre and it is very noisy, even at 1 in the morning! Cigarette smoke smell even came in to my second floor room.
We were very surprised how central the hotel is. With that comes the possibility of going out. The associated problem for people who like it quieter is that the rooms on the side of the big market are very noisy and you can hear the music there until the morning. For us this was not a problem. The hotel has a large old ballroom while having breakfast. Very impressive. The staff is extremely helpful at all points.
Nice, clean room with comfy beds and pillows. At first the room was cold, but later on it had a more acceptable temprature. I got an extra quilt from the cleaning lady, very nice. Noisy, noisy, from the pub Malt and Humle at the ground floor. All the staff kind and professional, yet we had some problem checking in. Wanted to change my bookning to my husbands company when we were paying the bill. Wasn't possible. Why? The staff couldn't answer. Very nice and delicious breakfast. Brealfast staff kind, fiendly and professional. Disturbing ground work at the square in front of the hotell, even on weekends.
Spent a night here to get away from home, relax and take a bath. Staff was friendly and helpful. the building is old and have some really beautiful details. Room was clean and modern. If you're staying at a hotel in Linköping this is were you should go. Hotel is located in the main square of town.
Really nice hotel - centrally located and with VERY GOOD service. The breakfast is good (with plenty of space and many options) and the great service continues in the restaurant Storan. This hotel really delivered a great experience - and "punch above its class" both in terms of rating and in price.
Nice and well organized hotel in the a central location. Adviced to use an expensive.parking house near by but ok close to the hotel. Nice restaurant but a little bit too crowded for me Otherwise a very nice stay.
