Changing my initial 1* review below. God room, very good breakfast, helpful personnel. Could have been a 4-5 without the upfront dissatisfaction about the access to the pool/sauna
——-
Showing up here with 3 teenagers after a tough basket match. The guys were really looking forward to be able to bathe and use the sauna to relax before another match this evening. This to hear 1/ that access to the sauna / swimming pool costs another 20€ per person and 2/ even if I was ready to pay that « there is no place anymore and you should have booked in advance ». Fantastic. Then the last detail was to be charged 9€ for the parking …

I wish I could give 5 stars but due to service, it bumped down. The room was excellent, as was the breakfast and the coziness. However, the service was just depressing. The man who greeted us as the counter looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there, with apple AirPods in his ears and a look on his face that wasn't welcoming. He didn't give us any information about the facilities, just gave us the key and pointed us to the direction of our room. The next morning, nobody in the staff greeted us and trying to smile to them was like trying to smile to a murderous gazelle. I don't understand why such a nice hotel would hire staff who can't even use simple social skills or even acknowledge their guests. Would not come back here because of that.

We were traveling from Stockholm south to Kalmar but didn't want to do the 4.5 hour drive in 1 day, so we decided to leave Stockholm at about 8 pm and drive the 2 hours to Norrkoping to break up the drive. We booked this hotel in advance and didn't have any expectations, but we were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Our room was very clean. The breakfast buffet was our favorite from all our Sweden stops. Amazing Swedish pancakes and toppings. When I booked the hotel, I thought the price was a little high for being in a smaller city, but with such a good breakfast, I felt it was fair. I would stay here again.

A very nice place to stay. The staff was polite and the rooms nice and clean. The breakfast was also quite satisfactory. We had a very pleasant stay and the bed was really comfortable. We had no trouble with noise so we got a good nights sleep.

The location of this hotel is not directly downtown, but it's easy walking distance (1km) to the center of Norrkoping. Many restaurants nearby, and close to the train station. The area around the hotel includes the main police station, and the neighborhood felt safe and well-traveled.

The hotel was under renovation when we were there - the parking was in a public lot that is adjacent to the hotel and the reception gave us a free pass for using in the lot. There were workmen around and lots of materials piled around the outside patio and the main parking area - we also saw people working on the floor that we were on, but we never heard noise.

The room was a good size and very comfortable. The furniture, carpet, fixtures, etc. all seemed brand new. One strange thing was there was no phone in the room, so to call reception you would need to use your cell phone, I guess? My main complaint about the room was the temperature - the elevator, the hallway and our room were all insanely hot. It was not a hot day - it was as if the heating system was somehow malfunctioning or on overdrive. Once I figured out how to unhook the closure system on the window, we got the room cooled off. Like most hotels in Sweden, there are no screens, so if you open the window, you get bugs in the room, which is really annoying. Our room also faced the street, so there was some street noise, but we didn't notice after awhile. Once the room cooled off, it was quite comfortable, and we never heard any noise from anywhere inside the hotel.

There is a small fridge in the room, but it's stuffed full of items for sale. So you would need to take that out to actually use it to cool your food.

The bathroom was huge and well-thought-out. No complaints there.

Breakfast was included and was a buffet in the lobby area - quite a few choices of bread, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, fruit, eggs (hard boiled and scrambled), hot meats, etc. The unusual additions were "American pancakes" - which had so much oil in them that they were too greasy for me to eat. The other was that there was a waffle maker! Woo! So happy to have waffles. And they had real maple syrup, which for me is a big surprise and a welcome one. The restaurant served other meals during the day, and there was a bar, but we didn't have any other meals there.

Reception was friendly and greeted us and helped with all our issues. Maps were available. We entered directly into the lobby rom the parking lot rather than from the street, so I wonder if that's how we avoided some of the issues that the previous reviewers mentioned?

Recommended!

A good small hotel a walking distance from bus/railway station. They have rooms both with double beds and separates. I traveled with a friend and we took one with separate beds and despite of two beds the room was comfortably large. The breakfast was small but had surprisingly good variety of fruits (strawberries!), cereals and bread.

The front door has a code so it doesn't make you feel too welcome running into a locked door. The reception was nice but didn't seem too interested in us. Asking if we needed some help to find our way in the city or offering the sightseeing pamphlets we spotted by ourself by the reception desk would have been nice.

Overall a good value for your money.

Our weekend at Hotel Nordic was just what we needed. The room was comfy, the spa was so relaxing, and the food in the restaurant was super tasty. It was the perfect way to recharge and have a good time.
I recommend it, if you’re looking for a nice spot for a weekend getaway.

This hotel has five star potential but makes too many mistakes. The room and bathroom are nice but not very clean. The windows are very dirty but the worst part is the bathroom floor; mold and fungus. There is no air conditioning in the room. You can open a dirty window, but there is a train and cars outside, and a concrete mixer; dust and noise all the time.
Breakfast is poor and disorganized: there is tea but no cups and no hot water. There are corn flakes but no bowls, there are strawberries but frozen ... no plates, knives and bread ...
Wifi works very badly.
The large parking is a positive

My wife and I stayed here for a night away and were really impressed by the welcome, quality and facilities available for the price.

We stayed in the king size room and made good use of the spa and restaurant.

It may not look spectacular from the outside, but it really impressed us.

Dirty bathroom. All of our towels was covered in old dark hard hair, really nasty. Got new towels but no offer to clean/change the room. Or compensation.

Double deluxe beed was two single beds pushed together so the were splitting if laying in middle.

Breakfast is eaten by the reception where the main door opens and closes so we were freezing and food got cold.

Staff was indifferent when making complaints. Young and acted like it. Not very pleasant and while working standing infont if the hotel lobby having a smoke.

So a romantic night turned into a pretty bad night. Wouldn't go again. Wouldn't recommend.
