Hotel HETAN MAJATALO is Lapland's oldest family company in tourism. Majatalo has offered peace to visitors ever since 1924 and is now into it's 4th generation.

The present-day Majatalo consists of a traditional inn and a hotel with rooms for 2-6 persons. As a speciality most of the hotel rooms have a loft with a skylight window and sufficient space.

Cosy lobby with an unique fire place and piano, two saunas, meeting room, Wlan and a public computer, little library, playgrounds, souvenir corner, fitness room, waxing room for skis, loundry and a Lapp hut are at your disposal.

Traditional Lappish and Finnish food in an idyllic dining room will make your holiday complete.

Majatalo is situated right in the centre of the village of Hetta / Enontekio but at the same time right at the edge of the wilderness. Lots of activities await you in Hetta and guided tours begin from the hotel.

Personal service of the host family makes Majatalo different.

You can choose between more simple rooms with shared sanitary premises or a spacious room with own shower and toilet like we did. It was in the main building. There is no air conditioning but you can have the window open as there is protection against mosquitos. Though what is missing is something to make the room a bit more darker for the night - now its so light during the summer that one could have problems to sleep.
Staff is extremely friendly - beds and cleanliness top. Breakfast very tasty with a great variety of dishes. Price-Quality ratio excellent. We come again. Family owned place where the couple who is running the business is every day in daily service.

Hotelli Hetan Majatalo is a small, friendly, warm and happy family-run hotel in Enontekio, which is an excellent basecamp for exploring the Finnish Lapland fells (tunturi) area. This is how we used it as a small photography tour group with @Salamapaja. Tiina at reception was always attentive, conscientious and very helpful. The kitchen-dining space is warm, convivial and crowded, and you will always get a good Finnish meal here!
The place has been run within the family for almost 100 years (centenary in 2024) and it feels like a real home. A few steps out the front will be a supermarket, cash machine and bus stops. Out the back (if it is dark enough) will be a surprisingly good sheltered spot for watching the northern lights dance above the treetops.
Plenty to do here in winter or summer; Hetta Huskies next door, wilderness centre within walking distance, Jyppyraa campfire hut (kota) above and Ounasjaarvi Lake right below. Highly recommended, and like many people who stay here, you may also find yourself returning this as basecamp year after year!

We were supposed to do only a stopover for one night on our way from Norway to Sweden. However we could not reach our hotel in Norway as the road was closed and there were no other hotels nearby in Norway. So we called this family hotel asking whether we can stay 2 nights instead of 1 but we will be arriving between 3am and 4am....They immediately said yes and saved us from having to sleep in our car that night! We cannot thank them enough! On top of that Hetta happened to be a gorgeous place with a beautiful forest where we snowshoed following the recommendations of the hotel staff. They also recommended a spot to watch the Northern Lights and we spotted them! The room was super cute and comfortable, we absolutely loved our stay at this family hotel! Thank you and we will definitely visit again!

We stayed in this family run hotel for 4 nights and couldn't have had a better stay. It is warm cosy and inviting. Run by a lovely family. Tucked away in the snowy wonderland that is Hetta. Just what you need after a day in the snow. The place is so well maintained and clean. The home cooked food is beautiful particularly the salmon dishes and the hot chocolate the best daughter has ever tasted! The rooms are cosy yet spacious and the underfloor heating in the bathroom an added luxury. I would return tomorrow if I could. Thank you so much! Holiday of a lifetime!

Fantastic place .the staff were all friendly. It was a family run hotel, and all worked so hard .the food was great and homemade. I think they must have been cooking constantly.nothing was too much trouble .paths were cleared outside of snow. There were lots of games to play, and a small area where you can get drinks hot chocolate with baileys was nice paula was there all the time To go to if you need anything

Last minute booking turned out way better than expected. Very clean room. Comfy beds. The evening sauna was perfect. One for women and one for men heated up each night. The breakfast was very good, offering typical Finnish foods such as Karelian pastries, pancakes, crisp bacon and eggs etc. Nice family hotel vibe.

Really enjoyed our 4 night stay. A perfect hotel, warm, welcoming and comfortable. Only negatives were the WiFi which was not great, and the 9am checkout! Food was homemade, not fancy, cuisine, tasty, plentiful and warming . There isn’t much choice, two choices to be precise, meat dish and a vegan vegetarian alternative but there is always plenty of salad and bread and I know the hotel caters for special dietary requirements too. Rooms are comfortable clean and our bathroom had a great shower, and there was always plenty of hot water. There’s a kettle in the room, but you need to bring your own tea and coffee. We loved our stay and would recommend this lovely friendly family hotel.

Dear Misti66, thank you for your visit in our Majatalo! Very nice to hear you enjoyed your stay and want to recommend us to your friends! Hopefully we will see also you here again some day! We are sorry about the WiFi and are not sure why it did not work 'normally'. Unfortunately for Transun's charter groups the check-out needs to be at 9 a.m. to be able to get them cleaned up for the new guests. Have a good rest of the winter!

Stayed here through Transun UK Ltd and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very clean and warm. Rooms had everything and were warm and cosy. Had use of a Sauna. Food was fantastic especially the salmon. Tina was very helpful. The little souvenir shop was very resonable. Hotel is in a good location, only five min walk from the local supermarket. Would definitely stay here again

Booked a Transun trip to Finland and missed out on the first trip so when this came up as a different hotel we booked it.
SO glad we did. The hotel is lovely, very cosy, warm and friendly.
Always a good selection of food, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there.
Great location and lovely little town and some nice walks out. Close to the lake which was frozen while we were there so great for walking.
Highly recommend and would love to go back again.

Spend a night in a simple room (2 beds, chair, table, windows big enough to let some air in) in the old annex building with charming interior. Toilet down the hall, shower in separate building.
Very nice atmosphere, good breakfast buffet, very friendly staff.
