This is well located and easy to access from the centre of Akureyri. Room we had was larger than most guesthouses we've had on our way round Iceland. Pillows lumpy but bed passable. Shower difficult to regulate. Shared kitchen and dining/lounge area wonderful and well equipped. Good info available on the area too. Wifi (as with most of Iceland) terrific... More

We stayed here for one night at the end of august; our room was at the first floor right across the kitchen; so we were woken up a little bit early because someone was preparing breakfast. The room was oke, but very basic. 1 big bed and 2 little ones, and a bed light. Not really something to hang your... More

We stayed here for two nights in June, 2015. We had the main floor room right beside the entrance. Because of all the paper signs about removing shoes, it would have been nice to have been given disposal slippers as a courtesy. We were given these in Reykjavik. The most difficult part of our stay, was the headache producing smell... More

The room was clean and about what I expected for a hostel. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side at first but the rest of my trip led me to the conclusion that it was just the standard prices for the high season. Thora was very nice and it was exactly what we needed for a nights... More

This inn has many different rooms and room types. We were shown three: two inside of the house with 4 -6 beds and a shared bathroom, and one with the door outside on the street, a private bathroom and small kitchen. As the cost difference was 1000 kr we picked the outside room with the private bathroom. The owner was... More

Prices are uncomfortably high for a guesthouse that does not include breakfast into the cost and has neglected basic maintenance of the building. Information that you must read in order to not be on the owner's bad side is found in multiple locations, on multiple sheets of paper taped to the wall. I have no problem staying in basic/budget accommodations,... More

You are an observing guest who actually saw the signs, not all guests do that. But it is true, they need refreshment. However, it is custom here in Iceland to take off the shoes when entering a house, staircase, school etc. but I hope you also saw the sign in the living room, saying that there were free coffee and... I rarely make such mistakes when I book an accommodation. I thought I had done my homework on this one; I certainly know I cannot depend on the reviews on booking.com (Interestingly, my review was not posted), and need to be more careful. Fortunately my stay was only for one night. Things did not start out well. The outside of... More

Dear guest What a shame that Iceland did not turn out to be as you expected. Regarding your experience in our guesthouse I can only say that we don´t live in the guesthouse but it is a kind of family business so you will met different members of the family here. the position is fine but the overall impression is one of lets get the tourists money.we werent made unwelcome it was just that the general feeling was of a very ordinary guest house rather than anything special. We were not asked whether we wanted breakfast so we didnt bother,We walked to restaurant Rub 23 which was excellent.

Dear guest I am sorry to hear that you did not have a nice impression of AkurInn. The staff and I have talked it over, and we tried to recall what went wrong. I cannot tell why you were not offered breakfast as that is a part of my normal welcome. We will try to do our best next. Best... More

Stayed here for 1 night in May, 2014. We did not have advance booking. The manager was very accommodating. She put us up in a quiet and comfortable apartment. Walking distance from the town center. Ample parking space.
