The hotel is located off the beaten path in a lovely little valley near the coast. It was our fourth night in Iceland, and the fall colors were really starting to show when we arrived. Since it is far from any restaurant, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. It is served buffet style, and was one of the... More

A former children's boarding school, the building has been renovated and leased by the community to be used as a hotel with clean tidy rooms. We had the rooms in the former teachers' quarters, on the end nearest the pool. The hotel location, next to a great hot spring fed pool (about $5 for entrance) was wonderfully private and serene.... What a lovely hotel. Very friendly owner. We stuck a pin in the map showing where we had come from, ours was the only one from Gibraltar. we went for a hike to the waterfall, it was so quiet and peaceful. had a dip in the amazing pool which was dug out by local farmers many years ago. The buffet... More

We arrived at this hotel after going round and round looking for it. The roads leading to the hotel is undergoing repair and there were no directions. When we finally got there, we found it to be a disappointment. The room is small and basic. There was no TV, and no coffee making facilities. Most of the hotels that we... More

As part of a bike trip with a buddy and our wives in June 2016, we booked this location in the Western Fjords on June 30. The facility is wonderfully isolated by several kms of gravel road off the main highway. Unfortunately I threw the chain off my bike as we crossed a construction zone. Fortunately we were only 3... Had a nice stay here last week. Hotel was well located for us on a bumpy dirt road as we really wanted to visit Krossneslaug on our trip to the Westfjords, and Laugerholl was "only" about 1.5 hours away . . . on that bumpy dirt road. Very friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable and very quiet. We couldn't... More

Very isolated place, not much to do around except hiking and using the fabulous geothermal pool. The water is at a constant 90-100 °F in the large pool, and largely above 100°F in the small pool directly filled by a hot spring. A small river flows from the mountain, you can bathe there as well with the water around 90°... More

The service was excellent here. It appears to be family run and they do a wonderful job! The rooms are what you would expect in this area but they served their purpose. They have a nice pool and hot spot you can swim in as well.

A good stopping off point on your way up the Standir coast. I thought the pool and the natural hot pot were both very nice. The turf house and area surrounding was nice for a walk. The breakfast was very delicious. Friendly owners. Make sure you follow the signs to the pool entrance and don't take the short cut down... More

As other reviewers have noted, one has to want to stay at Hotel Laugarholl and the fascinating Strandir Coast in order to endure the unpaved wooly drive to arrive there. But, this charming place in the middle of nowhere was a wonderful respite for peace and tranquility. Our room was quite spacious by Icelandic standards and the library/common area was... More
