Very nice guesthouse in very convenient location. Easy to walk to central Reykjavik and to the waterfront and museums. Very quiet neighborhood. Nice rooms, small bathrooms. The only thing we didn't like was that the shower was part of the main bathroom and once you took a shower the floor in the bathroom was wet. But the shared bathrooms are...

Room was cozy and clean. Owner was helpful and made sure we got in ok even though I forgot to let him know the right arrival time for myself and my son. The kitchen is well stocked with tea and snacks. The harbor, saga museum, and art museum are all a block away each, and there's loads to see just...

We were so happy to spend a week at the Butterfly Guesthouse. John and Olafia have thought of every possible convenience to make your stay more enjoyable. They have made it easy for you to customize your stay by giving you personal space in the kitchen, and seeing that kitchen stocked with every possible piece of cookware, cereal, milk, breads,...

I stayed here Dec 17 with my son and his girlfriend. Very happy with the accomodation, feels like you have been invited to somebody's home. The owner was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area and gave us some good tips from where to go to see the Northern lights (lighthouse at the far end of Reykavic) to where to...

The women in our family (3 generations) planned a celebratory trip to Iceland. The Butterfly Guesthouse was the perfect place for us. The location was ideal, just a few blocks from the part of Reykjavik we most wanted to walk around (shops, restaurants, the harbor, several car rental options, grocery stores). And when we went on tours we could be...

I loved the atmosphere at this guesthouse. It was cute, cozy and I loved the decor! One of the best perks about staying here is that you are treated with tons of free food: pasta, rice, milk, coffee and even biscuits! So you will feel like at home. Besides, it's located near the Harpa (which is really great by night)...

My husband and I stayed for two nights in January. Jon emailed me prior to our arrival and gave us the door combo code so we could let ourselves in and check in if he wasn't around. Our room was small but simple, and had a comfortable mattress with a shared bathroom. The room was well lit and warm, but...

This was my second stay at the Butterfly Guesthouse. We stayed in the apartment on the top floor for 3 weeks, and it was great. We love Jon and how attentive he is to all his guests. He is truly a wonderful and a caring person. Jon was always on hand for questions, and he was always checking in on...

Me and my friend really enjoyed our stay at the Butterfly Guesthouse over Christmas, it is in a great location, was warm, quiet, clean and comfortable, and the communal kitchen was very well equipped and clean, nice big dining table and lounge area. We even cooked our own Christmas dinner there! Jon, the host, is great. Very friendly and helpful...

We had a great 8 nights at the Butterfly Guesthouse over Christmas and would definitely return. It was a great find close to the Old Harbour, so is just about the perfect location to explore Reykjavik. Jon is a great host and has created a warm and very welcoming guesthouse.
