Excellent rooms, excellent location. The hotel is ideally located in the Middle of Reykjavik, within short walking distance of most of Reykjavík's key sites, and within 10 minutes walk of the main bus terminal too, which means if you don't have too much baggage to carry you can take the bus and save a lot on taxi's getting to and from the airport. The rooms are very nice, well equipped (complimentary coffee machine, iron & ironing board, etc) well soundproofed, and well-light proofed with solid curtains given that it doesn't get very dark through the night in summer, and the breakfast food was an excellent section - including to my taste, lots of fresh fruit, cheese, salmon, and pastries.

This was a such a clean and stylish hotel; we were very impressed. We paid a bit more for the superior room which was very spacious, with a lovely bathroom (separate shower and bath) and huge bed, which was very comfortable. There was an impressive variety of food to choose from at breakfast, many healthy options but also lots of pastries and cakes! No one else seemed to use the complimentary spa downstairs during our stay, so we had it to ourselves each day, which was very peaceful and relaxing! We ate in the restaurant on arrival at lunchtime and really enjoyed the food - it was nice to have a choice of vegetarian options. The waitress was so friendly and shared her recommendations for food and suggestions for our activities on our trip. She chatted to us each following day at breakfast to check how our holiday was going, and even remembered when it was our last day, which was sweet of her. (We didn’t catch her name, but she was originally from Mexico and had just returned to work following maternity leave so thank you if that was you!). We made use of the hotel happy hour 4-6pm to take advantage of the cheaper drinks, as everything in Iceland is very expensive. The hotel location was great- we were able to walk to the harbour, tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, park/lake etc. and Bus Stop 3 for booked excursions and airport transfers.

We recently stayed at Hotel Reykjavik Saga for 7 nights. Like another reviewer had mentioned, it was difficult to choose a hotel in a place completely unknown to us but I honestly don’t think I could have found a better hotel to stay in.
Location is perfect, there are lots of restaurants close by if you didn’t want to venture too far after a long day out on one of the many day tours. Rainbow street, The Harpa and Hallgrimskirkja are all a reasonably short walk away too. We used Bus stops 1 and 2 for our Tour pick up points which are literally over the road and around the corner from the hotel.
The hotel is beautiful, modern/Nordic design, our room was really beautiful, we loved the ridiculously comfortable bed, the rain shower and the bathroom products smelled gorgeous. The room also had a nespresso machine , great choice of teas and a mini fridge.
All of the hotel staff that we met were so helpful and friendly and are happy to advise and help with any questions you may have.
I can’t recommend this hotel enough, it was absolutely perfect and made my husbands birthday extra special.
We hope to return in the very near future!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and efficient,as all of Iceland is! Hotel has a spa but we never had time to use it. Location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik on foot and for all the sightseeing tours. Bus stops 1,2,and 3 are on the door step. Breakfast is excellent with an amazing choice. Bacon, scrambled egg and beans was our staple diet plus cereals, fruit juices, tea, coffee and so much more. Our room was clean and modern with everything we needed such as a TV, and tea making facilities (kettle was in a cupboard my wife tells me, along with an iron!, but I never saw them), and we never used any of them. We never quite sorted out the lighting in the bedroom. It was all or nothing as you had to use a card in a slot by the door upon entry (and for the lift). Take the card out, you had no lighting, so we had to use a phone to go for a pee!. Refuse bins are available in the lobby for plastics, paper and general waste. I'm not sure why I mention this but Iceland are well into segregating their rubbish, which can only be a good thing. Drinks are expensive everywhere in Iceland. We did buy a round of 3 cocktails at the bar, as we're on holiday, and it was £50. Get used to those prices! Lesson here is if you are into a rum and coke, as we are (or tipple of your choice) in your bedroom, then load up at duty free in UK. Bacardi in UK is around £22 a litre. You can only buy alcohol at a licensed shop and they tend to close at 5pm. We ended up having to buy a bottle of bacardi rum for £44 but this still way cheaper than paying the bar prices. You can buy coke and sandwiches at the local Kronos (like Aldi, so your best place to get stuff like water and nibbles). We were only there for a few days so never eat at the hotel but there are good restaurants near by that cater to your wallet. We would certainly stay here again.

We stayed here as a family of 3 (2 adults and 15 year old). The hotel and room were exceptional. Plenty of space in the room, huge bathroom which included a shower and bath, in room coffee and tea and bathrobes and slippers provided. Our stay felt very luxurious and the beds were so comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet and there was so much choice - food was fresh and tasty. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful hotel; location couldn’t be better, rooms of a very high standard, hotel amenities (spa, breakfast, etc) all very good.

Beds were comfy, no noise could be heard throughout the hotel so very good sleep quality as well. Couldn’t have asked for anything more from our stay in Reykjavik.

From start to finish the hotel and its staff were just great. The room we stayed in was a superior double with ample space in the room and a lovely bathroom. The breakfast was great serving fresh fruit, fresh pastries, cold meats, cheese, and other cold options, it also included hot items such as bacon, egg, baked beans etc.

The hotel staff were super friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The hotel is of great location for the centre of the city with plenty of street parking only a couple minutes walk away. Having the addition of the spa area was also a lovely extra within the stay.

All in all great hotel, great location, great staff and we would definitely return!

This hotel is quite new in the area, and we were intrigued by the location (right next to the lake). It is indeed a wonderful setting, offering somewhat of a quiet oasis in the midst of the buzzing Reykjavik downtown scene.

We had a beautiful view of the lake on a sizable balcony. As for the room itself, it emanates a modern, clean look (particularly the bathroom), and the finishes of the closet spaces, etc are appealing.

There were some notable problems. The phone didn’t work. The TV didn’t work (both the local TV and Netflix were not functional, though there was some ability to see random ad-sponsored YouTube clips). The AC didn’t work, even through the technologically fancy panel it was on did work for the lights dimming. In the bathroom, the shower resulted in an absurd amount of water spilling over into the bathroom floor, so additional towels were critical to dry up the mess. It was one of those classic Scandinavian designs where form unfortunately took precedence over function.

I’ll acknowledge that the staff was really friendly and helpful. They also had a “refreshments” desk for guests in the lobby (basically offering some water and desserts).

I will begin with the best part of the hotel, the staff. Nick in particular was extremely friendly and helpful.

Now the negatives. First, they tried to put us in a room below the class that we had booked. Careless error or bait and switch, I don't know, but either way not good. We eventually got into the correct room. Second, attention to detail is lacking. There was a big stain on the carpet. There was molding missing on some of the corners in the hallway. There are no hooks in the bathroom for robes or to hang towels. The hotel says they are trying to be green but there was no place to put towels to say that we would reuse them. We put them on the towel warmer (a nice amenity) but they were always removed and new ones put in the bathroom. [It is possible that housekeeping just folded the towels from the towel rack, but that is equally back because then I don't know which one is mine.] Third, it was extremely warm in the room - and this from a girl who is perpetually freezing in winter. Heated floors in the bathroom (which but for the hot room would be a nice amenity) were part of the problem. We were told to keep the bathroom door closed, which we did but it was still so uncomfortable that we had to open a window. But the street noise made it hard to sleep. Forth, and I'll stop here because I really don't want to nit-pick but it was an issue, the halls somehow alternated between smelling like a gym and smelling like a kitchen.

This is an expensive hotel. I know everything in Iceland is expensive. But if you are going to spend that kind of money, I think you should get better quality.

The noise level in our room (305) was unacceptable at 95 decibels for sustained periods. This room must be soundproofed or come with a health rating and a reduced rate. Otherwise, daytime use only! This was booked as a family room. Luckily we were not traveling with children.

You can also just ask the front desk to have more brought to your room. This is not a budget hotel.

There is also an option to jump on a coach transfer. You can purchase a ticket at the desk in the arrivals hall next to the exit and when we were there this month coaches ran every 15 minutes. The Hotel is right by Bus Stop 3 . Everything was open when we were there but there will only be a few hours of daylight in December, not that will impact opening times but worth consideration when booking trips. Enjoy.

Good afternoon. No building in Iceland has air condition as it is not needed, our summers are generally very mild. All rooms are equipped with a thermostat to regulate the temperature but for rapid cooling, we recommend opening the window and closing the door to the bathroom, as the floor there is heated.

Good afternoon. All of our rooms have triple insulated glass and rooms are not affected by street noise. Rooms facing away from the street are available but this is subject to availability.
