Historic home within walking distance of downtown shopping and sites. If you want a feeling of how Icelanders live this is a good place. Owner was informative. Breakfast was quite nice.Great character in a historic BNB.

Stayed in a studio apartment (Room 2). It was very warm and the beds were comfortable. The guesthouse is a five to ten minute walk to the central shopping area in town with many bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Cannot speak highly enough of the owners and staff, who were all extremely friendly and helpful, including the resident...

The guesthouse is an old building with multiple rooms available. I visited with my mother and we had a 2 bedroom apartment which was excellent value for money especially given the price of accommodation in Reykjavík. The guesthouse also offer an excellent continental style breakfast at a great price which will easily set you up for the day. I would...

My 20 year old son and I stayed a total of six nights at this wonderful guesthouse. We had the pleasure of staying in two different apartment, the first being a one bed-roomed garden apartment followed at a later date by a very spacious two bed-roomed apartment. It was like home from home, warm and cosy with heated floors and...

Guesthouse Galtafell should probably be renamed to 'Heaven', as it is the BEST stay abroad I've ever had. The hosts, Thorey and Arni, are incredibly warm and welcoming, and immediately make you feel 'at home' upon arrival. If you are seeking advice or ideas on how to spend your time in Iceland, they are overflowing with suggestions and ways to...

We had a wonderful stay at the Guesthouse. The room (7) was spartan but warm and cosy, which was needed as the weather (as it always is in Iceland) was wet and windy at times. All that we would suggest was maybe a coathook on the back of the door to hang wet jackets after a day out. We were...

Just stayed for 4 days in downtown Reykjavik. The guest house is warm, charming and worked perfectly for those on the go for 12 hours a day. We had an in room bathroom so anyone used to that over shared bathrooms, you have options here, just ask. Cozy single beds, down comforters and pillows all very clean for the 3...

We had a room with a shared bathroom and, after viewing the seven photos of lovely bathrooms on the Galtafell website, had no issues with this. The actual bathroom is disgusting and, unsurprisingly, a photo isn't displayed on the website. So the owners know it's sub-par. The bathroom is old and very dirty. Our room wasn't serviced daily. The onsite...

This is everything that I wish all bed and breakfasts were. The owner was out recovering from hip surgery (get well Thorey!) so her brother was taking care of the place for her in the meantime. He was one of the best parts of our trip to Iceland... He told us all sorts of amazing stories about Reykjavik's lesser-known history,...

Lovely guesthouse, with friendly staff and very comfortable bed. spotlessly clean, light and airy room. It's best feature though is its central location. We went on a couple of trips and when others were being dropped off at more expensive hotels out of the town centre we realised how very well located this guesthouse is, only a couple of streets...
