We (2 adults, 3 children) had a private room on the bottom floor. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Communal space is quite limited, I think it would be very crowded in the summer. I loved the breakfast (buffet selection of ham, cheese, cucumber, tomatoes, smoked fish, really good bread, waffles, delicious local syrups, hard boiled...

The front desk was very nice, but we paid $200 for a tiny room with no bathroom and barely enough room for two twin beds. Meanwhile the hotel down the road has nice rooms with two doubles and private bathroom for $60 less. The breakfast was an absolute joke with watered down tang to drink. I understand the hostel vibe...

I felt like I was at home staying here. It is a small but very cosy hostel. I honestly love that we take our shoes off at the front door. The kitchen is small and adorable. The front desk receptionist was sweet. The guests were all calm and quiet. There's two levels to this hostel, I was upstairs and the...

We have just returned from our week long road trip journey around Iceland. We spent our third night at Vik HI hostel. The people at reception were very friendly and helpful. Especially when we saw that safetravel.is had issued warnings against travelling further East (which we had planned) because of a severe storm. They advised us against travelling and were...

Great breakfast, homemade bread and salmon are super yummy. The hostel has a warm feeling and the kitchen and dining spaces invite socializing. I made some great friends here. Vik is a good place to stay when making your way through the South. Watch out for icy roads in winter between Vik and Kirkubaelauster.

Of all the hostel that I have stayed during my travel, Vik Hostel is certainly one a kind. It's a converted farm house! Situated on the hilly area of Vik, it's offers a spectacular view of the town and the beach. We stayed for 2 nights and we were placed in the 6 bedded dorm. Toilets is limited with only...

The hostel was pricey for what you got. We stayed in a dorm for 4 and there was barely enough room to get 2 bunk beds in here. The place needs a refurb and also re-arranging some of the rooms - above the room I slept in was the toilet (next to the kitchen!) which I could hear from my...

We stayed one night at one of the wooden cottages (six people). There were 4 beds and another 4 mattresses on the top floor. We had our own kitchen and bathroom in the cottage. Internet was very weak inside the cottage and would work occasionally. We paid 45 euros per person, which may not be too much for Icelandic standards...

Unfortunately despite being in a good location this was the worse hostel we stayed in in Iceland. The rooms are tiny, with no locks on the doors, the bathrooms are not ventilated and there are only 2 of them for the whole hostel. Plus you can hear everything that happens there from your room! Staff were friendly but I wouldn't...

It was a nice stay at the Vik Hostel. The cabin was very comfortable and warm on our winter trip. Nicely built bunks and friendly kitchen area. The breakfast was nice and the staff were very helpful. The only bump was the sometimes hot sometimes warmish shower.
