Detailed Reviews
We stayed at Oakside Lodge for 1 night. When we arrived the owner greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us to the room. Room was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. Even though it's close to the main road, it's very secluded and you really don't hear any noise from traffic. Breakfast was freshly made, plentiful and used 'home grown' produce. Owner was very attentive, enthusiastic and helpful. We'd certainly stay again.

My wife & I had a very nice 4 night stay at this b&b. Really modern room, very cozy, with modern en-suite, secure wi-fi, tea/coffee making facilities, extremely clean & tidy. Very well placed for access to Canterbury, & the A2, & very quiet at night. Our breakfast was freshly cooked to order, there was also cereal, yogurt, juice available too. If you wanted to use public transport then there is a bus stop a short walk away. Our host Stuart is very friendly & well organised too. So all in all Oakside Lodge is an excellent place to stay if you’re visiting this corner of England.

Fantastic host Stuart made us feel at home. We had the deluxe room which is a bargain. Spotlessly clean with all the mod cons you need nowadays. Good quality hairdryer. USB port in the lamp, modern kettle. And the beds are amazing, like sleeping in a cloud. You can enjoy the fantastic shower in a very modern bathroom with big fluffy towels. The property have a desk and a fridge with drinks including alcohol which you can use via honesty book. Sitting in the front deck watching the sunset was the highlight. You can use the tables outside for picnic and explore the grounds with the chickens and pigs!! Breakfast is superb and included in the price. The sausages are to die for. We will be back and can't recommend enough. Feel so relaxed after 2 nights there I didn't want to leave. Very close to the Kent coast so you get the best of both worlds.

We have just spent three nights here and had a great time. Our room was on the first floor with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and a comfortable sitting area. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided and the wardrobe had loads of hangers. We had a large bath and very efficient shower. Toiletries were adequate and everything was spotless. Stuart was a delightful host and went out of his way to make our stay special, with local knowledge and love of his work. Breakfast was delicious with the best sausages ever, lovely coffee and an ideal time to chat to other guests and share tips. We loved the pigs kept in a huge area next to the lodge....they ran straight over when we went towards them. You can walk for miles in the surrounding forest without seeing a soul. Oakside also has a large grassed area ideal for children, picnics or just relaxing plus a veranda overlooking the beautiful garden. It is a short drive to the nearest restaurant/ pub and about ten minutes into the centre of Canterbury. Whitstable and Sandwich are also easily accessible. There is some noise from the nearby road but generally all you hear is the birds! Lots of squirrels scuttling around too! Thank you, Stuart for an excellent stay.

We travelled as a group of 6, taking up three of the rooms (1, 3 & 5), we were greeted by Stuart who provided a great run down of the Lodge, its grounds and local places to eat including a map and directions.
All of the rooms were well sized and had drink and TV facilities, everyone agreed the beds and rooms were comfortable and we all settled well.
As a group we enjoy playing cards and board games so the large table outside was perfect for in the daytime and Stuart was happy to let us use the shared breakfast room later in the evening which we particularly appreciated.
Whilst we did have three of the rooms we did not take up all of them however we were never interrupted or disturbed by the other guests and there was plenty of parking on site for all of our cars.
Breakfast was great and all served hot and correct (6 people all wanting different combinations is sometimes a problem), and again even though there were other guests this did not delay our food and it was all served in a very reasonable time.
You can tell great amount of time, effort and pride has been poured into the lodge and the results are amazing, it is now top on our list for any return trips to Canterbury or the local area.

I am so disappointed , we were charged £250 for the night to stay in the tree house. Upon arrival and shown to the tree house the room hadn't even been cleaned properly, the owner opened the fridge to show us and there was rubbish left in from previous, also an empty gin can and water bottle left under the bed not right at the back but to the front so would of been picked up if cleaner had bothered. There was dust on the heater and the shower worked but was leaking and the water flow was useless. Then came the evening not a mention by the host or before I booked the a2 is closed and being resurfaced the noise was horrendous. We had all windows shut but still woke us and resulted in us leaving at 2,25am to drive home. I messaged the host to explain and asked about a possible refund but i was ignored. My partner then rang him later this afternoon, to be told yeah he got the text, and what because of the roadworks ?. Yes it is out of your control we understand that but then make your guests aware or even so reduce the booking. He then stated I'm out on a bike ride right now I will give you 10% back which is £25 . We booked here as it was rural and unique for a quiet night away, this didn't happen and we left as a business I find it appalling that you can't even reply to your customer and offer £25 back when it has cost us £250 to stay, then travel on top you hadn't even cleaned the room or inspected the shower before hand or you would of known the issues. It's a shame as you have the potential.

Highly recommended. We were welcomed by Stuart who as very friendly yet professional he explained how everything worked showed us to our room which was lovely warm comfortable bed and above all very clean. The room had an on suite with a large bath also we had views of the grounds. The breakfast was lovely local produce and very tasty. The grounds themselves are great to explore the location us great for exploring the lovely Whitstable seafront or the quaint historical city of Canterbury.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Oakside Lodge. Warm and friendly welcome and wonderful hospitality from Stuart. The scenery was beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. Would definitely recommend as the place to stay in Canterbury.
Very quiet and peaceful, even though you are only a 10 minute drive from Canterbury town centre, The park and ride is good value and easy to use.

Lovely little B&B in the woods. Lovely little walks around the grounds. We had a full English cooked every morning for us which was delicious. The room was clean and tidy, only little flaw would be the need for net curtains as we were ground floor so felt we had little privacy. Also black out blinds would be good as I was waking up at 5am due to the light. Apart from that it was brilliant. The bed was comfy and the shower was powerful. I was expecting a bath as that is what it said I had on booking.com

Booked this lodge as a night away to have a break. We arrived around 4pm on the 17th sept 20. We was greated by the owner explained everything i.e checkout times etc. Our room was lovely we had the room where it had just been finished brand new bathroom bed etc. Was so comfy and the view he had on the 5 acre land was lovely. He has his own pigs and chickens. You where made to feel like this was your home could come and go as you pleased. If anything you needed you rang a doorbell and he came and answered. Breakfast was plenty of choice yoghurt cereal fruit and plenty of fresh hot tea and coffee. Full english bacon and sausages from his pigs which tasted delicious!. Eggs beans toast mushrooms tomatoes cooked how you wanted. Nothing seemed to much trouble.
Will definately be staying here again.
