A wonderful, older, established old charm hotel. Excellent walking distance to walk the city and view the old walls. We paid for a cab for the day to take us around the island. The hotel recommended this person and we were very pleased with their choice. Breakfast is expensive but the choices were admirable. The grounds are wonderful and our... More

Malta is a magic country, sort of a idyllic place, be it in Malta itself or the islands of Gozo or the small Comino. There are many great hotels there, so it's hard to chose. But if you want the very best, head to Hotel Phoenicia, about 200 hundred yards from the Old Valletta, the unforgettable place frequented by the... More

We have just returned from two weeks in Valletta and should have stayed at Phoenicia which we love. I am afraid it is even now a building site with work in progress. In my opinion I cannot see it being finished this year I hope when it opens it will be worth the wait.

We booked this hotel last autumn for June this year and were told that there were minor refurbishments taking place but the hotel would be open in April. We were told in April that the hotel would not be reopening because of some historic find. We booked elsewhere but when we visited Valetta the hotel was a building site and... More

Dear Helen, I would like to offer my apologies for not being able to accommodate you at the Phoenicia for this visit. I am sorry that you were misinformed about the extent of the refurbishment as the plan always entailed major renovations. It is also very unfortunate that during excavations, historic section of the bastion walls were discovered which delayed... More

We had a similar experience to previous reviewers in that our tour operator, Thomson, failed to let us know that the hotel would not be ready to receive guests in July. In fact they assured us that our booking was secure and it was only when the e-tickets arrived that we realised that we had been re-located, without any consultation,... More

If you like luxury, attentive service, great food and magnificent views then The Hotel Phoenicia will not disappoint. There is an old world quality to this establishment that is rarely found these days and is almost unique among the hotels in Malta

This is no doubt real five star hotel! Excellent staff, the location is very good. The rooms are small and the view not good but tidy and well kept. The hotel has nice garden and pool at the back corner of garden. The pool bar is expensive but you can expect that. The breakfast was very good, we even enjoyed... More

We have received a letter from our Tour Operator Thomas Cook informing us that our booking at the Phoenicia 5-12 July cannot proceed as it is closed and we will be staying at the Excelsior.
