We had a strong desire to stay in Hallstat and chose Weisses Lamm because of its location and pictures. On the positive side the room was very comfortable and cozy. Sadly there were two decks but the views were obstructed on one deck by several buildings and the other deck was over the onsite restaurant. What put us off a little was the fact that it was hard to get too. We were told there would be short term parking on the outside of town to park our car and unload our bags. This area was full so we had to go to the parking lots in Hallstat to find a space. However it took quite a while to find a space as the town was crowded with tourists and buses. We eventually found a spot and had to hump our luggage through town. There was a shuttle service but we did not want to use it. We did not receive and overly warm welcome on arrival. THe room also had a long list of rules we had to adhere to. The hotel is very clean quiet. However the staff were not overly friendly. Breakfast was typical the usual meat, cheeses, bread etc, In summary the hotel itself is very nice but the staff were not particularly warm or welcoming

I’ve been reading tips from other travelers that you should request a higher floor in order to have views. I had a room with no view, just a little bit of the cathedral in my view but for me it was fine. The room was quite, I had a balcony with such a good intimity. Continental breakfast with everything, eggs, good coffee, salmon, jamon and melon. And they have elevator now, which is really good.

Reading previous reviews this place don’t seem to bother with hospitality, they must be busy enough not to have to be decent human beings. But to even profit from others’ misfortune goes beyond measures! Inflexible, rude and uncaring to the lowest level. I’m deeply disappointed and angered, please avoid at all costs!

The restaurant is pleasant and serves great, fresh austrian draft beer with meals. Sometimes a gasthaus will find that being average is OK with a constant flow of new tourists, but this was definitely a one-time visit for us. Menu is very traditional austrian.

We stayed here as a family in early January. Had the top floor with 2 great rooms. Very spacious and modern with views of the lake. The reason for only 3 stars was the fact that we found the staff not very helpful at all. Also we were caught out as the restaurant closed at 5:30pm for dinner.
