As transplanted locals, wouldn't usually book such a touristy place, but it was available and walking distance to a restaurant we wanted to try. The villa is quaint, creaky and suitably historic, but strangely lacking in ambience or warmth--felt like a museum more than an hotel. But staff are very welcoming and accommodating and this made up for a lot--our...

We booked in advance as my wife had been wanting to stay there for a while. We've been to Salzburg a few times before and staying in city center is more convenient...but staying here once was cool. It was around 250 for the family suite, great size, 2 rooms for us and kids, not including the 12 euro pp breakfast....

The hotel is lovely and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Verena checked me in, recommended restaurants, gave me a tour of the villa, booked my tours and made me feel right at home. I would highly recommend staying here not only for the historic aspect but for an authentic Salzburg experience. Staying at the villa was...

We stayed at the Villa Trapp for 2 nights. The service by the staff was excellent and the hotel has a very homely feel. Rooms were nice and spacious. Inside the house was quite dark though (no windows on the top floor until you get inside your room)- but this wasn't really an issue. There was a TV in our...

I enjoyed a LOVELY stay at Villa Trapp on the night of August 18. As I was checking out, I informed the office manager/attendant that I had originally booked for the night of August 17 on June 30th....but cancelled that reservation on July 1 (within the cancellation policy), but was still charged for that night. Despite numerous calls and an...

We stayed a the Villa Trapp for only one night a the end of July 2016, (two adults and three children) but wish we would have planned for a longer visit. The welcoming was exceptional, including great information on Salzburg and what to do/where to eat with small kids. The rooms in the family suite were huge and the breakfast...

I have just returned from my holiday in Salzburg, staying at the Villa Trapp. My stay here was wonderful and I was looked after by the very friendly Verena and Mary-Anne. The Villa is was very quiet is a must for any Sound of Music lover.

This is fascinating for anyone with an interest in the SOUND OF MUSIC and of general historical interest as well. People should be aware the Villa Trapp is basically a guest house and not a standard hotel. One caveat: skip the mediocre, vastly overpriced breakfast.

Very good to be in the real place where Trapp family used to live to feel their daily lives in the past. However, there are nothing much to do around the area including limited number of restaurant. The lady who takes care of the place was very helpful and nice.

Loved everything about this place, especially being a Sound of Music lover. Not having a car we found it easy to walk into Salzburg, Train and bus is a 5 minute walk. Restaurants were slim around the place without a car. Breakfast needs to be included in price of the room not separate. Breakfast itself we found excellent, especially homemade...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Villa Trapp was the residence of the world-famous Von Trapp family, whose life in Salzburg entered history as "The Sound of Music", the most popular musical of all times. The villa is maintained in the style of this period, including 2 luxurious, 60 m² suites. They are exclusively furnished. In the past the Villa Trapp was not accessible to the public. Now you can sleep in the family's rooms and walk on their paths through the villa and the park. This stately building enjoys a quiet location close to the centre of Salzburg, surrounded by the city's largest private park. ... more   less
