My husband and I spent 2 nights at this lovely B&B in August 2010, but we've been coming here for 11 years now! We travel frequently to Europe and since Salzburg is one of our favorite cities, we've stayed at Haus Wartenberg 5 times now. Location: It's great. It's just outside the city center-only a pleasant 10 minute stroll to... More

Ahhh, Salzburg... The Sound of Music... What a beautiful city! Travelled to Salzburg with my wife and stayed at this bed and breakfast for three nights. Very cozy and romantic... About 10 minute walk to town through the walkway tunnel. There is however a but that stops just a block away, so either way good location. At times the B&B... More

Haus Wartenberg is on lonely planet's author's pick list so it does it lots of guests. The house is surrounded by geenery and a garden and even has its own restaurant. It has an antique feeling to it with very creaky steps, doors and windows. The owners were really nice and helpful and they have kids of their own so... More

We are always keen to find places that fit into the general cultural set up and living-styles of a particular region; we do certainly not prentend to look for the type of homogeneous lookalike places that you could find anywhere on this planet, but don't know where you actually are when you wake up. At Wartenberg you certainly know where... More

This hotel is fascinating, everywhere you turn there is something to look at.. A beautiful piece of furniture or a nice painting. Set in an interesting old building with a lot of nooks and crannies and decorated with antiques and art objects. Charming, and unique rooms, nice attention to detail. A lot of books out to read around the place,... More

It was a unique and accommodating stay. We were four, my husband and our two friends. We stayed in two adjoining double rooms, both with it’s own bathroom. It is a rustic cottage, but comfortable, cozy, and quiet. The location felt a bit removed, but it was only a 10 minute trek to the old town. I would consider this... More

First off, my partner and I are always looking for interesting, not mainstream chain-hotels to stay in...Haus Wartenberg definitely fits this description. The house is a charming, old-world place where there is a sense of family and simplicity. As proof, we arrived on our first night where a wedding reception was taking place, and we experienced our first taste of... More

I have to agree with another review that the photos on the internet are misleading. Although the house is charming in it's old-world style you have to be willing to overlook plaster peeling walls, holes in paintings, cobwebs, unfinished renovations, and rubbish in the front lawn. It reminded me of Miss Havisham's home from Great Expectations. Having said that, the... More

It looked good on the Internet, but not so in reality. Something has happened - the quaint garden has turned into a rubbish pile! This place is a disgrace and appears to be undergoing poorly-executed renovations. The front yard is full of building refuse and the back yard looks like a rubbish tip. The rooms are just tolerable, but we... More

We were most surprised at how close we were to the town centre. Nice quiet situation with good rooms. Breakfast was very good and included in the room price. Dinner were also very good. Johannes was very helpful and even gave us a ride back to the train station which we appreciated.
