First ever review here. After staying less than 6 hours, I’ve accrued over 70 bed bug bites. Laundering of clothes, throwing away luggage, swollen fingers, medical attention and disgust from sleeping in a bed bug haven. Hoping management renders this right as other travelers should not endure this infestation as we have. Management was pleasant following, hoping they continue to address the issue.
We stayed for four nights with our one year old son and the hotel was a very nice surprise. The room was very clean and spacious and the staff was great. A few years ago we stayed at a 4* hotel in the city centre and all I can say is that this one was much better (space, clean, bathroom). Good value for money, I recommend it!
You’re getting what you pay for here. A good hotel with no frills. If you’re expecting Hilton or Ritz quality you’ll be upset. I enjoyed my stay here. There is plenty of food options around that are cheap. A train and bus station outside and a 25/30 minute walk into the middle of town. 10 euro Uber ride from main train/bus station The TV had no English channels and it was right next to a main road that was busy in the mornings. Not too bad
We spent Christmas and New Year at this hotel. I asked if we could change our room as I felt it was a bit small two persons. Ali gave me to look at another room. This was the same as ours. Ali said he would move us to a very big room on boxing day morning So we moved into our large room which had a huge bathroom as well! The hotel was very clean and very welcoming. Ali is an asset to this hotel. He went out of his way to make our stay wonderful .The train station is right across the road from hotel. so easy to travel around. Good value for money is this hotel. for 17.10 euros we bought a weeks travel pass that was valid on all forms of transport! !!! great
If the room rate was 10-20 Euros cheaper, I would have given this property a 5*. Two things really stood out during my stay at the Hotel City Residence: the location (literally opposite an underground stop which is so convenient) and the world-class customer service from the male receptionist Ali. Ali was incredibly helpful right from my initial phone call until my check-out day. He likes chatting to guests and is genuinely interested with what he does. I also saw him maintaining grace under pressure which is very impressive. The room is good. It has everything I needed for the night but it's definitely not worth 95 euros. I would have expected a full tea and coffee making facilities for that price. The bed wasn't the most comfortable bed ever - slabs of thin wood are holding the super thin mattress (this is a recipe for disaster!). In terms of cleanliness, I can't complain but again, for what I paid - I expect it to be sparkling clean, chromes polished to perfection, etc. Noise - very popular complain here in TA and on Booking.com but in all honesty, it wasn't that bad. It's tolerable and come on, it's city centre - don't expect radio silence in the middle of the night. GOOD POINTS: - super helpful and accommodating reception staff, Ali - location is unbeatable, definitely a huge selling point - cleanliness is spot on ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: - please be more considerate on your pricing; for that rate at least include a breakfast! - ditch the uncomfortable wooden beds and replace with decent ones with new mattresses (again, if you're charging that ridiculous rate, make sure the standard of the room lives up to it) - why only provide tea in the room?? Where's my coffee? 🤓 …
