Terrible, please don't stay there! I didn't choose this guesthouse, but my original hostel was overbooked and so they arranged accomodation with this one. I was unlucky, because I had to stay in that horrible room in the "reception" (aka dirty kitchen)/apartment of the strange couple. So it was more like a homestay, which I really don't need because I...

It' not a beautiful area of Vienna but it takes a five-minute walk to Mariahilfer center and a ten-minute walk to the histhorical center and wonderful museums. The entrance of the building is a bit of scaring as well as the decoration of the room, but despite the first bad impression, it is comfortable and the bathroom is nice. Arabella...

We stayed there 4 nights, spent few money and our 2 dogs were allowed without any problem. We could also leave them in the room for few hours when we were out for dinner. The guesthouse is 10 minutes by foot from the very center, and near the metro. Arabella is also very kind and happy to help you finding...

Apartment located in residential neighborhood (apartment building) within walking distance to the "Westbahnhof"; public transport nearby to all areas of Vienna. Good alternative to a hotel with kitchen, separate toilet, bathroom and large room with balcony. Street noise not too bothersome with windows closed. It is on a major road. There are 3 other apts. available on same floor with...

Very nice guesthouse located in the very centre of Vienna, held by a generous and welcoming host: Arabella! She owns several appartments divided in several floors (but all in the same flat), with shared bathrooms. A kitchen is available if you want to cook but you can also have a hearty breakfast made by Arabella's employee for only 4euros (and...

Arabella and her husband were the most welcoming people my friend and I met on our trip. The guest house was exactly the type of place we wanted: spacious, clean, very private (so refreshing compared to our hostel nightmares), and conviently located. We used the nearby public transportation to go everywhere, and Arabella was so helpful every time we needed...

We thought this place was very strange, but not bad. The owners are nice, but when we first checked in there was this very grungy odd couple trying to check us in, and they could not speak English or even much German, and it was a very off-putting experience. The owners themselves were nicer but a bit overbearing. The room...

They show us everything we wanted to know, give us map and directions about the city, where to go, what to avoid etc. Guesthouse is almost in...

Arabella was one of the most memorable person we met on our whole trip! She made a huge effort to give us information, talk to us, and make us feel comfortable. The place was clean and price was fair.

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
