We stayed in this hotel recentely (thankfully only one night!)and had a terrible night. As we required a triple room we were put in a room next to the reception and more annoying the Bar and front door!To top it all we also had sofas right outside which only encouraged people to sit outside til all hours talking/laughing and generally keeping...

My wife and I recently spent 3 wonderful nights at the Furst Metternich and we recommend it highly. The desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room and bath were very clean and quiet. The included breakfast was quite good (see the other reviews). We had to leave early our last day (before breakfast), and the staff ofered to pack...

I didn't have the same experience as the reviewers below. I have traveled throughout Europe and have stayed at 3-star hotels so I don't think my expectations were out of line. I found the hotel to be rather dirty - "old" is one of the key words everyone referred to. Most everything is old - worn and dated, particularly the...

We stayed at Furst Metternich Hotel in August 04, for 2 nights. We had wonderful service. We arrived at 6.30am after a 21hour flight and were shown straight to our room and told we could have breadfast at 7am! The room was a little small but very clean , quite and comfortable. Breakfast was great and the staff couldn't be...

Hotel Furst Metternich is a small three-star European-style hotel. If you are looking for a standard chain hotel or a luxury property, you should look elsewhere. But if you are familiar with European-style properties and enjoy a hotel with more Old World charm, you will not be disappointed by the Hotel Furst Metternich. As an older property with fewer windows,...

My husband and I spent 3 nights at this charming hotel. We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and I informed the staff via email in advance. A lovely room awaited us complete with a fruit plate, sparkling wine, flowers in the room, and even robes and slippers. As for the staff at the hotel, I can honestly say they could...

I've just returned from a week's vacation in Vienna and stayed at the Furst Metternich. The hotel is about 50 metres off Mariahilfer Strasse and the nearest U-bahn station is on this corner, giving access to the Hofburg, Stephansplatz and other attractions in the Innere Stadt within 5 to 10 minutes. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and well decorated,...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
