Neighbourhood
Ottakring
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).

the rooms are far from a four star hotel. I stayed at the courtyard seven where I had two windows, one did not close and the wind came near it, the room was with three beds, one near the window and the current from the window was felt. Very small bathroom. Disappointing

Definitely not a 4* hotel. Room was shady, view to a noisy yard. Walls in the room damaged, toilet physically broken. Asking for an iron, we had to collect it from the reception, at checkout next day, we were asked to physically bring it back to the receptionist instead of the cleaning staff doing thei job. A 4 star hotel??? I beg your pardon....

Excellent location. Ideal for trams into city centre. Many places to eat especially the square opposite the hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast really good. Rooms clean and comfortable. Would definitely stop again

The room was fine, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Power shower was amazing. Good quality bedding and towels. Small bar area was fine. Team stop right outside hotel which is very handy. Unfortunately room was not ready at check in time - was told had to wait about half an hour - by a not very friendly receptionist, a different room was found after 20 minutes though. Shame as everything else was good. There was an issue on booking as my cards were seen as invalid ( never had this problem before apparently it’s the hotel system) but it was sorted out after a couple of phone calls. Would we choose the Exe again - yes - a few issues but it wouldn’t stop us staying here again.

Breakfast in the hotel was good, wifi worked nicely, and it is located right in front of a tram station. My complain: the rooms. The bathroom smelled like sewage, there was a huge crack on the floor, and the ventilation fan in the bathroom was not working properly which lead to steam all over the room when taking a shower. Also there were visible molds, not sure if a consequence of the high humidity or just poor cleaning.
