We stayed for 3 nights, at Stadthalle. Besides feeling good about ourselves since the hotel is energy neutral, the stay was also wonderful because of the biiig rooms, the service minded staff and the calm, even though our room was facing the street.

We booked a taxi online and I am so glad we did as the flight was delayed by 3 hours which meant we arrived after midnight, tired and new to the city. The taxi had checked the times and was waiting for us, what a relief. I agree that the public transport in Vienna is brilliant but if it's your first time the taxi was well worth the extra.
