Old fashioned rooms, but very modern bathrooms. Clean and comfortable. Hotel "lobby" is a conservatory that opens out onto a courtyard seating area, that would be very pleasant on warm evenings. No lounge or bar, but the conservatory has some tables and chairs, and tea,...More
When in a city like Vienna it's great to find a hotel which is truly traditional. Altwienerhof recreates the 19th century Viennese atmosphere, while also offering a pleasant and comfortable stay in the Austrian capital. The reception is decorated in a very interesting and quaint...More
We spent two nights here during a holiday tour of three capital cities.
The hotel itself is situated in a quite pleasant area of the city, within very easy reach of the main train station (Vienna Hbf), just one tram journey, with the stop being...More
Where to start.... The hotel is located in the red light district and shares a crossroads with a brothel. This is not a nice area of the city and not somewhere I would have a quiet wander late at night.

The hotel, room, breakfast and staff were all pleasant but I am sorry for the hotel that its surrounds are not so great. The only plus is the proximity to the metro to get away. The reasons i rate the area poorly: the brothel on...More

There is the hotel's garage area which you can use for ~15 euros/day. They share the garage and in fact have only about 8 spots available there, so it may fill up. There are also a few free spots on the street just north of the hotel building. If those are full and you don't want to pay, you can also park anywhere in the neighborhood for the night free. There are signs that say when you can park there without a permit (if my memory serves me, 7pm-8am). You will need to wake up early in the morning to move your car to another space if you park in one of these spots. The hotel staff are very helpful in explaining where you can and cannot park.

We took the train when we stayed at Altwinerhof and you have to use the light rail to transfer. The train station is pretty far away from the hotel, but with the light rail across the street from the hotel, it would be pretty easy to arrive by train, hop on the light rail to the Gumpendorfer Strasse and walk across the street to the hotel.
Having the light rail across the way made staying at this hotel very easy.
