Great hotel for 3 stars is located just 2 minutes from the metro. To the center (Opera) - 10-12 minutes by subway
Very friendly staff

Me and my wife stayed here for three nights as we celebrated this new year in Vienna. This hotel was an excellent one and we will surely stay here, if we return to Vienna someother time. The most positive aspects of this hotel are the...More
I believe this is one of the best locations in Vienna. First of all, the hotel is wonderfully located on a silent street, nearby subway station. The rooms are clean, spacious and the antique furniture, characteristic of Vienna, creates a timeless impression as if it...More
We were staying in this hotel for one night. I had chosen it after seeing its reviews. Unfortunately, I don’t agree with the enthusiastic opinions. The furniture is really old, the armchairs had the clothing unwound and the curtains were dirty. In general, the room...More
Located one stop from Vienna's west train station the Altwienerhof is well located for travel to all of Vienna. The nearest metro stop is a two minute walk away (literally across the street).

There is the hotel's garage area which you can use for ~15 euros/day. They share the garage and in fact have only about 8 spots available there, so it may fill up. There are also a few free spots on the street just north of the hotel building. If those are full and you don't want to pay, you can also park anywhere in the neighborhood for the night free. There are signs that say when you can park there without a permit (if my memory serves me, 7pm-8am). You will need to wake up early in the morning to move your car to another space if you park in one of these spots. The hotel staff are very helpful in explaining where you can and cannot park.

We took the train when we stayed at Altwinerhof and you have to use the light rail to transfer. The train station is pretty far away from the hotel, but with the light rail across the street from the hotel, it would be pretty easy to arrive by train, hop on the light rail to the Gumpendorfer Strasse and walk across the street to the hotel.
Having the light rail across the way made staying at this hotel very easy.
