We get this hotel, cause it had really good price offer for the days we needed. Advantage: very clean, perfect location for long city walks as well for night life animals. Disadvantage: standard room is a bit too tiny. Tipp: if your price for the room does not include breakfast-do NOT book it for extra. Breakfast is good, but really...

My only recommendation comes on the Wi Fi connection which requires password every 30 minutes or so. Should be once a day maximum. All the rest was as the expected such quaity of services. Very positive overall.

A proper Mercures on a excellent location for sightseeing, so much on walkable distance in a pleasant neighbourhood. My initial 'standard double' (big, comfortable room by the way) was after the 2nd exchanged for a 'privilige room', due to the fact that the first one had cimate problems and in the rooms under the roof one can supposedly not open...

I have stayed here for couple of times. This hotel is good for Christmas markets lover. Amazing location ( walking distance to Rathaus and close to tram stops) with nice people at the desk. Rooms are clean and reasonable.

It's a beautiful hotel, and front desk staff were always friendly and accommodating. I would have given this hotel a 4 or 5 if not for their bathrooms. There was no shower enclosure so after a shower, the entire bathroom floor gets all wet and slippery! The housekeeping also did not make an effort to refill bathroom amenities like facial...

Dear Mario, thank you for your comments, we are sorry that the service was not what you expected. I spoke with the housekeeping that they have to improve their services, because this was not our standard. On the way to the museumsquartier (Walking 5 min) there are no restaurants by the street, but there are a lot of reataurants parallet...

We had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Josefshof Hotel. We were offered an upgrade on arrival which was a bonus. The staff were all so helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great. We couldn't fault it it any way. A big thank you to all who made our stay so special.

Our room was perfectly adequate for our needs, quiet at night, clean and comfortable bed. Room 107 faced into the back of the hotel and there ws a communal area with chair on the balcony, though as we were the only people to use it felt like our own private area. There was no kettle provided to make tea in...

We went in March during a warm spell and the room was very hot. The windows and air con did help but we were unable to leave them open/on while we were out meaning we had to cool the room down on our return each day. The tap in the bathroom is automatic with no temperature control and no hostess...

Good value hotel with excellent staff making you feel at home. Air con ineffective. 20 min walk to centre of city. Nice local shopping. Small bar seating area but warm and friendly. Room service extremely limited. Stretching 4 star rating.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
