The hotel is nicely located within proximity to public transport and supermarkets. The staff are friendly and helpful. Housekeeping could do a better job but this doesn't affect the positive rating. Thumbs up

Dear Ago O, thank you from all at the Mercure Josefshof. Elisabeth

The hotel is incredibly conveniently located between Rathaus and Volkstheater. The 2 and 46 trams are one block away, the U2 or U3 are two blocks away and the Rathaus is a 8 min walk. The rooms were great and the staff very pleasant. They have a late checkout policy that allows guests to stay until 1400, 1600, or 1800...

This hotel was very conveniently placed for us as we wanted to do a lot of walking. It was easy to reach many sites on foot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the novelty of a free drink in exchange for not having the room cleaned every day - appparently a contribution to a more green operation....

An excellent hotel with informed competent friendly staff. Breakfast was always fresh with many choices as to the type of breakfast one would want on any particular day: continentalwith fresh breads, cakes croissants, etc. or, with eggs, bacon cold meats, raw fresh vegetables all with coffees, teas, juices, fresh fruits. A good way to start a long walking day. TV lacking in...

Front desk staff was very helpful. The room was quite comfortable. We had an easy walk to several of the Christmas markets and even found a local market on some side streets what was an extra treat. We did not have a meal in the restaurant or use any other services. For the price, we were very happy with our...

We loved this hotel. Lovely quiet location but just 5 minutes walk from the Christmas market at the Rathaus. All the others are also easy to get to as well, either on foot or by using the nearby underground station. It's a great base for exploring this beautiful city, has really friendly and welcoming staff and doesn't feel like a...

We got a fair deal (€78 plus parking at €22) which seemed quite good for a hotel close to central Vienna. Parking OK, except for being blocked by half a bed and a couple of big steel plates that I had to remove before putting my car there. Room OK, but no luggage rack. So we had to put our...

Lovely hotel, upgraded to a priviledge room which was well worth the extra money. Room was comfortable and modern in appearance. Breakfast was very good a wide selection, something for everyone. Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
