We had been to Austria last year for 4 days to see around the places there. We booked Hotel ‎‎Academia as it was very cheap. And by the fact we did not have many expectations from the hotel. ‎‎But the hotel lived up to our expectations.‎ The hotel was located quite far from the city centre but there was a...

If you are expecting to stay in a conventional hotel you will be disappointed. The building is a student hall of residence that is used as a hotel during the holidays. If want accommodation to take you back on a nostalgic trip back to your university days this is the place for you!

Our stay here was very pleasant. the staff were very friendly and aimed to please. The breakfast was nice and the bar opened til late. The room was a little small and the bed was not great, but it was what I expected for the price. It is within walking distance of the main city.

I enjoyed the hotel and the room (although it was small and had no tv). The staff was very nice and helpful. It was well located, with a bus line directly from Sudbanhof, where you drop off from the airport bus. Shopping streets and restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay there if I go back.

Where do I begin? We booked the room with the expectation that it would be small, we didn't realize it would look absolutely NOTHING like the picture. Getting there was only half the battle. Even with a GPS the hotel was very difficult to find and not in a very savory location. The street is covered in graffiti and people...

very old dirty dorm rooms ...they say its equivalent to a 2 star hotel but I have stayed in hostels way better than this.. The breakfast consisted of instant coffee and juices, hard rolls, and cheap cold meats and cheese. You can definately find better for the price!! A very depressing place to stay.

It was a very nice hotel although i understood it is in fact a student dorm, the rooms were clean, the towels were good to use, the pillows were OK. The staff was very helpful, they explained us how we can get to the center of the city, what to visit, they even spoke with the company that organises the...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
