WOW. We absolutely love this hotel. From the moment we walked in, until we left, we felt welcomed. The staff is a true joy. Without a doubt the friendliest staff of any hotel we've stayed at in many years and truly a place we'll return. From the room to the location to the people the hotel impressed us. It is...

We are not great fans of big cities, so when staying in a place such as Vienna we search out small, boutique-type hotels within walking distance of the city's main attractions but far enough away to enjoy a quiet neighborhood. Located in the Spittelberg neighborhood and only about a 15 minute walk to the “ring” and the historic center (museums,...

My daughter and I stayed at the Altstadt hotel for 4 nights in June. The hotel was not impressive from the exterior as it looks just like any apartment blocks along the street. However, the services and the hotel interior more than make up for it. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was newly renovated and cleanliness was...

The location was perfect (right next to the museum quarter), so we were able to walk everywhere. The rooms are cute, and the decor is unique and fun. The staff are very helpful with directions or other requests. The breakfast is WONDERFUL, and the afternoon tea was a nice touch as well.

Elegant, welcoming, sparkling clean and serene, Hotel Alstadt is a lovely hotel. The staff was always friendly and helpful, the breakfasts scrumptious, the location unbeatable--an easy walk to all the great museums. I particularly enjoyed my room, the Dr. Albrecht room, which is spacious, quiet, overlooks a courtyard, and is adorned with a wonderful oil painting. I look forward to...

Very clean hotel, service was outstanding, and the included breakfast amazing. we stayed four nights and three full days, but were gone on sight-seeing tours on two of them. The third day we rested some and were at the hotel for afternoon tea - the owner, Otto Wiesenthal, stopped and visited with us for quite a while to make sure...

Spent the first night in a suite overlooking the road and this would have been a different review if we had to stay there . The constant drone of traffic kept me awake much of the night . However, the next day , a charming lady changed us to a suite at the back that was very quiet ,spacious and...

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at Hotel Altstadt Vienna in May. The location, just outside of the Ring, allows walking to all of "old town", plus the metro is close for longer transfers. There are several good restaurants close by. The room, breakfast and service were all great. We particularly want to note that their “little local map”...

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
