Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.

Hotel Viktoria looks quite nice on the photos, and the exterior / lobby area of the hotel is quite welcoming. After you have ventured inside, quality starts to deteriorate, and when you get to the rooms, you feel like being at a student hostel or something. (with the proper

Dear Madam, thank you for sharing your feedback with us regarding the unpleasant experience. There should be a misunderstanding with breakfast in the room without fork and knife. In each room we have for our guests teapot, coffee and tea. Although it is not very positive, I am absolutely grateful for your honest opinion - because it helps us learn and try of course to change things that do not meet with our guests. I very much regret that your stay in our house has not failed to your full satisfaction. I hope to be able to convince you of your next stay and to be at the disposal of you personally in the email address hotel.viktoria@aon.at for any questions or requests. Best regards Ms. Guillebert
