If you are looking for a cheap hotel, consider this one. The rooms are very small. Beds and pillows were very comfortable and I generally sleep well. The bathroom is clean enough. I did not choose to have breakfast in the hotel, because there are enough bars, near to the hotel, where you can eat something delicious. Just in front...

We stayed here for 3 nights mid Dec 16 mainly to be close to the city centre and Xmas markets. The reception is situated on the 2nd floor in an old building consisting of apartments and businesses. The room was very small, dark and basic with minimal furniture. The bed itself was very comfortable and bathroom / Shower clean and...

Average hotel and no way a 4 star. Very basic and in need of a spruce. Room was ok but mouldy fridge, shower tiles some mould. Breakfast very poor. Very noisy at night due to heavy traffic and trams. Good location however and comfy bed.

Clean, spacious, right across the surrounding wall of University campus, and 15min walk from downtown tourist attractions. Good breakfast! However, very noisy. It is on Alser strasse, a very busy street. To be fair, I slept with the window open, no AC, but it must have heating. During the winter it may be better.

Location, Location! Close to inner city and also neighborhood cafes - best of both worlds. Booked 1/2 yr in advance, all emails answered promptly prior to my arrival & excellent service provided when I arrived. After travelling all night from North America it was a huge relief to see my room ready for me early as per my request. Breakfast...

This was the recommended hotel for a course I was taking in Vienna. Got in, had to wait a bit for the receptionist (he was in the back cleaning/remodeling/something), but there was seating so no big deal. He was a bit frazzled at check-in, but we got an upgrade to a 3-person room because they were out of 2-person rooms....

This is one charming Hotel on a very good position. It's only on 15 minutes walking distance from the city center. Rooms are spacious and clean, bed is very comfortable, breakfast is good, people that work there are very polite and friendly. Every day You get new, clean towels. It's very good value for the money.

The Pension Excellence is located right opposite the University of Vienna, making it perfect if you are visiting there. It is also on various tram lines and close to the centre of town. I believe it gets 4 stars because it has room safes, but at this price you will not be expecting a luxury establishment. What you will get...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
