Great location, comfy beds, nice staff and tasty breakfast. Good addition was a 24-hour access to a secure locker room which is very convenient. The hotel also has a very cosy lobby. Very recommended!

Perfect location right next to the station, very easy check in though provided tablets. Room was an interesting and sustainable design. Exceptionally clean. Daily cleaning is offered but for every day that you don’t opt in for cleaning, €1 is donated to sustainable charity… great idea.
Large windows and large open plan bathroom with excellent shower.
Hotel is opposite tram stop yet no noise can be heard from inside the room. Also lockers to store bags in before check in / after check out
We got a “partner offer” through booking.com which saved us over €100 on the stay so can only recommend 10/10. Was the best place that we stayed thought out our European travels
We did not opt for breakfast due to the price however it did seem to be of a very good quality.

We chose this hotel due to it's location and reasonable prices.
The rooms are clean and fairly well appointed, although I did miss a mini fridge, the shower being more or less in the middle of the room was a bit of a shock as well, but as we've been married for 37 years, nothing new to see there...

Breakfast was good, albeit the coffee machine does take a bit of getting used to ( insert capsule, pull lever, make sure you've put it in the right side of the machine, push appropriate button...).

The bar is open 24 hours, but the staff is a bit slow, and the opening hours of the rooftop bar seems to be a state secret.

Parking is on site, but a bit pricey at about €20 per day.

I will not criticize this hotel by the services they provide in the hotel because I didn’t stay there but I will criticize them by the services they provide in the customer services.
I was working in a hotel in Tyrol and as my contract finished I chose this hotel to stay for 2 nights before going back to Greece so I had an offer through booking.com that I purchased for 2 nights , an offer that was non refundable but things were going so bad in Austria with corona virus and the government was shutting down the transfer to European countries one after the other so I was really afraid to miss the chance going back to Greece and I was adviced from Austrians and forced to change my flight and go back two days earlier,
I paid a lot of money to change all tickets etc and i contacted the hotel to help me and give me to stay just for one night with them, i didn’t ask them any money back or any other thing, I just wanted to change my date of stay for Sunday 15th of March till Monday 16 th of March (my booking was for 16th till 18th, I paid for 2 nights) but the people in reception couldn’t do anything cause they said their manager wasn’t there for weekend and they sent me an e-mail offering me to stay on Sunday with them with 68€ (Booking.com had an offer with 56€)!!
So they offered me to pay again the hotel and not to change me the dates as all people understand due this corona virus we must all help each other..this was really unprofessional from their side and such behaviors are very bad in tourism, I am so sorry for them that they have such a nice hotel but they don’t know how to handle the management!
I just gave them 124€ And didn’t get anything from them!
They don’t know how to provide services, I am working in hotels over 18 years now and I see for the first time this thing!
I hope my review will help a lot of people before they choose this hotel to stay, as you can see many other guests in reviews complain about the behavior of the reception in general so I hope you will think twice before booking this hotel,
It seems a nice hotel but the part of managing is very poor!
If I was the owner of this hotel I would send the stuff for some seminars in the customer service.

Response from HotelSchani, Manager at Hotel Schani Wien
Responded 26 Mar 2020
Dear Manolis, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review although you've never been to our hotel. As an experienced employee in the hotel business you probably know that non-refundable bookings via any external platform such as booking.com can't be changed by the hotel at all! This is not a decision we make but this is the business model of booking.com and others. We are deeply sorry with all the inconveniences all travellers had and have to face during this unsecure time where flights were cancelled and borders were closed - please realize that this situation endangers the hotel with all its employees as well. Our receptionists did exactly the right thing - our hands are tied with non-direct bookings. Please let us recommend you to book directly at the hotels in the future and do not blame anxious employees for issues they cannot change and they are not responsible for. We wish you all the best and, primarily, a good health! Best regards your Hotel Schani Wien team

We choose the hotel from its location and its superb with 500 meters from central station and just cross the street is tram line D who gets you in the center. The breakfast was very good with gluten free options. The room was good and with a big window to enjoy the view. Staff was very friendly.

I booked here as we could not get the reimbursement for the more expensive hotel we had been staying in prior from my father's employer and primarily chose it based off price.

Staff in general were fairly helpful but a bit cold. Location wise, the hotel is obviously best for those heading for Vienna Hauptbahnhof, but the D tram makes getting into the city fairly easy.

The decor of the hotel and the rooms seems to be a modernist take, which was actually fairly nice and unique, but it seemed a bit impractical as it cut down on the storage space in the room and there wasn't really a typical desk and chair set up, so there was limited space to set things on. The beds were okay but the pillows were pretty flat. Cleanliness was overall very good, though the decor made things seem a bit less elegant.

The bathroom design was pretty inconvenient. The shower and sink were kind of out in the open, which is unusual as typically at most the sink is the only part of the bathroom not contained in a separate room. Here, however, the bathroom was in a separate room while the shower and sink were out in the open, separated from the rest of the room by a curtain. The shower and bathroom areas in general were really clean.

The internet was quite problematic. My phone was unable to connect to it most of the stay and the connection was very inconsistent.

The hotel itself is extremely cheap, especially for a 4 star, but the quality of the accommodations and the internet make it a bit difficult to justify a rating above 4 bubbles although the price definitely makes it a worthwhile pick in Vienna.

Rooms are simple but efficiently furnished. The bed was comfy, nice chilling place in front of the window, bathroom/bathplace was useful as it is with a large shower, huge mirrors and a lot of modern and innovative design all over the place. The hotel has a very convenient location. You actually can reach the Hauptbahnhof in 3 minutes and Favoritenstraße is also close so you can enjoy a lot of nice caffes and restaurants. I would gladly recommend this hotel, it just fulfills every need of someone on trip.

Pro:
very close to a main train station so traveling from airport is easy.
Tram station is right outside of the hotel so getting to city centre is also very easy. Belverdere is within walking distance
Lobby and rooms look hip if you don't look too close

Cons:
Hotel room lacks basic amentiy eg safe, fridge, coffee machine or kettle
Receptionist quite rude and not interested in his job. He asked for my full name while holding my passport. Then he had a fight with another customer right there at reception.
Chambermaid came into my room while I was sleeping! She didn't even knock before opening the door.
Many broken armchair at the lobby/ bar/ cafe area. Can barely find an unbroken chair. Don't understand why management wouldn't repair the furtniture given the selling point of the hotel is hip design

Casual appearance but very slick place. This isn't one of your normal chain hotels but it really works. Staff were all really helpful, rooms were very functional. Trams leave from almost outside the front door directly into the city and only 200 yards from the main station from which you can catch a train to and from the airport. We stayed here with our teenage children and it worked for all of us. Would use it again.

Hi, you go to the lowest floor of the airport to the train station. There are automated ticket machines before you get to the platform. To get to the hotel you can take the S7 to Renwegg then change to the S1 to the central station. Or if you prefer a more direct route you can use the RJ train route which takes you straight to central station and is the same price. DO NOT USE THE CAT TRAIN, it is a rip of and is double the price of the previous two routes. They are cheaper and take pretty much the same amount of time. From central station the hotel is a 5-8min walk away. Google maps is a life saver in Vienna but the hotel provides a smartphone with your room that has a maps app and a permanent internet connection. Hope you have a happy trip :D

It is not close to any Hop-Off/Hop-On buses, however, the last stop of the D-Tram is directly across the street from the hotel and it connect you to City Hall and a few stops along the Ring Road.

There is a shopping mall with restaurants in the central railway station as well as few restaurants around the hotel, all a few minutes walk from the hotel. The museum is also in walking distance from the hotel.

Hotel Schani Wien does have a car park. We drove to Vienna and used it during our stay. The rate was €12. It is very clean, well lit, and secure with a gate. Guests can enter the hotel from the garage via a clearly marked elevator so moving luggage from your vehicle isn't a problem. The spaces were a bit narrow for our midsize SUV so we did have to unload our children (from car seats) in the aisle before pulling into the space. The hotel gave us an assigned parking space but there was always another car parked in it, but plenty of other parking spaces were available. On arrival, you must walk into the lobby to get a staff member to open the gate before you enter, so be mindful of this if you plan on driving in and out of the hotel a lot. You may also call a few minutes ahead and someone will come out and open it for you.

Dear Rachel K, from Vienna´s International Airport you just take the train (ÖBB) to the main train station "Wien Hauptbahnhof". There are screens right before the platforms, where you can see when the next train is leaving, they are usually going to Salzburg, Munich and so on, so you have to check the stops in between. You have to buy your ticket before you get on the train, ticket boxes are as well right before you go down the escalator to the platforms. Get off at "Wien Hauptbahnhof" and take the exit "Karl-Popper-Straße" (NOT Südtiroler Platz). You go down the stairs and make a right. There you will already see our Hotel Schani Wien. Just follow the tram rails. In addition you can download the app "ÖBB Scotty" and check the next connections from the airport "Wien Flughafen" to the main train station "Wien Hauptbahnhof". This app also helps finding directions, while getting around in Vienna. I hope I could help you? Best wishes and we are looking forward to welcoming you soon Your Schani Team
