If you want some old world charm and a classic European breakfast, Steens Hotel is a good bet. My husband, 11-year-old son, and I walked uphill with quite a bit of luggage from the Bergen train station. Needless to say, we were winded upon arrival and then found that our room was up two very winding flights of stairs. The...

Steens Hotel is a good 10 minute walk from the station uphill. The roads are very uneven so difficult if you have luggage. We walked from Dock to the hotel but took taxi to train station next morning. They have a machine in foyer for you to book your taxi directly with company. Free coffee/tea/biscuits in the small sitting area...

I had flown into Bergen from the US, taken the bus to the station in town, and from the bus station is was maybe a 7 -10 minute walk to the Steens Hotel.....up the hill and a slight right & you are there! Friendly staff, nice room, tea & cookies available in the evening, and a really great breakfast. I...

I chose this hotel for 2 nights on our honeymoon based on tripadvisor reviews and to be honest was a bit disappointed with the property. It was a decent, old-style hotel, but nothing spectacular, and for the price anywhere else outside Norway I would've expected better amenities. There was some mix-up with our room which I had requested to be...

We stayed 5 nights at Steens Hotel from 3rd-8th June and we loved it. It's a beautiful building - the breakfast room is stunning, the staircases are gorgeous sweeping things (not to mention steep when you near the top of the second one!). We had room 28, which is a decent size. There are sloping ceilings which can be tricky...

First visit to Bergen and, for those who are happy with European-style older hotels with individual character and who are reasonably fit, Steens is a terrific choice. The place is situated up a hill not far from the rail station, just off of a lovely park and in what now is the university district. It appears to be in an...

I stayed here from 16th to 22nd april 2016. The location is very peaceful and scenic. City center is very near by and reachable by walk. This hotel will provide you daily breakfast as well so value for money. Only thing is room size, which is very small in case of single room. Rest everything is cool.

Small 28 room hotel "up the Hill" from "tourist central". Across the street from a large park on small little street. Rooms are not large and there is no elevator but expect a friendly staff and a clean room. Breakfast is typical Norwegian and will get you ready for your discovery day in Bergen.

It's a small but beautiful hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a little more out of the way than what I thought it was supposed to be but it was a nice place for a one night stay. The room was spacious but the bathroom was quite tiny and for some could be quite difficult...

Gorgeous building in a lovely part of town near the university. This is a big old house with pretty rooms, well furnished and with a beautiful breakfast room which is available to use for drinks and relaxing in. Everywhere was exceptionally clean. The staff were extremely helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Breakfast choices were plentiful, food was...
