Beautiful victorian hotel with lots of original features. Our room was clean and fresh and a good size. Same for the bathroom. Staff were all friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and wa Sall piping hot and plenty of choice. Served with tea/coffee and toast. We also ate our evening meals there and my only downside would be the limited choice but that could be because of the time of year we went and wasn't a real problem for us. Beds are really comfortable and the same for the pillows. Normally, I need to ask for an extra or take my own as I find hotel pillows so hard and uncomfortable, or flat, but these were great! Hotel is in a great location. Close to local shops and amenities and sea front location.
This hotel is out dated, dirty and the food is shocking! Customer service non existent. I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband for our 21st wedding anniversary. I should have known when there was no response to my email asking for champagne to be in our room on arrival. Obviously I was willing to pay for this but my email was simply ignored. On arrival we were informed there was no parking available and to find our own on the road outside which you have to pay for again this isnt so much of a problem as we are both able bodied and don’t mind the walk. The hotel does advertise that there is parking available which is a very small car park at the rear of the property. We arrived in our room 223 which had a very small double bed, dirty carpet, filthy windows, clagg underneath the radiator (which in my opinion if you can see it you can clean it), dirty marks on the bathroom walls, very old and very used bathroom, not a room you’d want to spend much time in and certainly not one you’d want to get romantic in. We were told dinner was at 6pm no choice given on time just told that’s when dinner was and quite frankly I wish we never bothered. Dinner can only be described as school dinners, rushed, small and not very hot or tasty. I had oven baked cod which was so cold it didn’t even melt it’s caper butter that was dumped on the top of it, the fish piece was so small it was more like a fish finger without its coat. My broccoli which was bigger than the fish was soggy and had the life cooked out of it. The apple pie and custard for dessert was simply stodge in a bowl which is great if you enjoy soggy pastry with lukewarm filling. We ended our night with Uber eats and a bad night sleep due to the noise in the room above. At 9am we went for breakfast. Well what a joke, having a look at the hot options before deciding if I was going to have weetabix or rice crispies (these were the only 2 cereal options) I was astounded to see there were only beans or tomatoes in the hot trays, no bacon, no sausage, no eggs. The waitress then announced to the whole room there are no sausages in the building (I beg to differ the management and chef are clearly sausages if they failed to ensure stock levels were adequate for a fully booked hotel), however the bacon and eggs were then replenished with 5 of each item, not great when there are at least 6 people waiting. Now let me tell you about the coffee! It was weaker than me nan and she’s been dead 35 years! The orange juice was non existent and the apple juice resembled something you’d provide to the doctor as a sample. All in all my advice to anyone thinking of staying here is don’t. There is a premier inn minutes away and I would highly recommend a budget hotel over this shower of poop. Thanks for ruining my anniversary weekend Faulty Towers we won’t be seeing you again.…
We went to the marine hotel for a turkey & tinsel coach trip .we were greeted by Andy the manager who informed us about the hotel and told us we had to book our time for dinner . We were met by a very abrupt foreign lady who asked us our room numbers as we all wanted to eat at the same time she very rudely told us that we could all not eat at the same time which disappointed us. We arrived on Monday the 5th of December Leaving on the 9th .The dinner on Monday and Tuesday was Luke warm it improved on the Wednesday and was passable on the Thursday . The room was a twin painted in grey the tv was a small one and the remote did not work. The entertainment was bingo and a singer every night .We we’re disappointed and will not be back
Stayed there for two nights as part of a tribute weekend. Hotel was spotless everywhere, all day and night. Food was basic as part of this package but was more than acceptable and had no complaints. Room was on the small side but who goes away to spend all day in the room and if you did you wouldn’t be thinking about the size of the room I imagine. It was spotless, as was the bathroom. Location was great. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.
We went on coach trip and everything was excellent. Staff, food, location, entertainment, cleanliness. Will definately return. Pool was closed but not a problem for us. Front lounge views amazing. It was super.
Lovely stay, bed not to comfy, could do with refresh… maybe better bedding, and a good hoover under and behind beds, pool to our self and breakfast was all you can eat bloody amazing! Staff all friendly and helpful, the only down side is you have to pay for parking. We will definitely return
This was last minute booking, that didn't disappoint. The welcome was warm. The room was clean. And the evening meal was reasonably priced and was very good. Staff were amazing, helpful and funny. Nothing was to much trouble. Evening entertainment was also available. Definitely will be staying again.
Stayed here with family, only one word for our break Brilliant.,from start to finish staff could not do enough for you, food lovely especially the morning bacon and eggs etc, entertainment very good ,our stay included 4 free drinks per person per night would definitely go back there again.Well done Marina
boiling hot in the hotel when we arrived, no need for such heat! floors creaked everywhere, uneven floors everywhere, looks outdated from the outside, inside could do with a facelift aswel, bar was nice mind you, only gripe with the bar the seats were wobbly, think it must of been an oap day there as was packed, now the room we stayed in, shower was tiny, no lock on door, had to slam the door to close it, boiling hot in room when checked in at 3, window didnt open that much(health and safety as its high up maybe) so the heat stayed in the room all night which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep, the bed was nice, the table with the kettle on is on its last legs as it was loose, did not eat in as it was packed, kitchen looked a bit grubby and a bloke with white hair was walking a westie dog through there when i was going to the toilet! dont think we will be staying there again.…
Hotel is clean, the room was clean, bed was nice and comfy, bathroom clean but a bath and shower too small to get in, a couch that was rock solid no cushioning or cushions had to get pillows off bed to sit on and back paid extra for a superior seaview double room could see the sea if you stood up behind the couch we went through booking.com so the extras that come with this room your not allowed because you've not paid through the hotel so the savings you make they take off you out your room so nothing superior about the room at all no television in bedroom, everywhere you walk the floors creek, breakfast was buffet style, bacon sausage fried egg beans and tomatoes just warm scrambled egg cold, cold toast, a few cereals fruit cocktail which consists of mainly apples, only 1 morning they had yoghurt they offer a two or 3 course evening meal you pay for seperate we got 3 course £15 each starters not good, mains come with 3 boiled potatoes and a bit of veg had the minced beef pie all pastry hardly any filling, fish 2 bites it was gone, no chips if you want them you have to buy them extra £2 each don't cater for big people small armchairs, small bath small shower entertainment starts 8.30pm finishes 10 pm if you want to park on there car park you have to pay £6 a day if you can get one and your not guaranteed your space if you go for a drive and someone as took your space even though you have paid for it, alot of steps so if your disabled the only way in is at the front of the building so have to walk from the car park at the back to the front unless your lucky enough get a space on the front but only allowed a 3 hr stay not good for people in wheelchairs no slope in lounge area to sit looking at the view just steps and more steps would never stay there again…
