A little disappointed the Indian restaurant wasn't open on a Sunday. As other reviews mentioned its a very tired hotel and is desperate need of decoration and general updating and a great deal of maintenance needed. Fortunately there was a Toby carvery very close to the hotel so we went there. The bed was horrible, the carpets right through the hotel very faded. Tatty tatty tatty.
Stayed here on 17th Sept. The price was cheaper than other hotels but obviously doesn't have same brand awareness. I need not have worried as the service was first rate and the guy behind the bar was extremely pleasant as was the guy on reception. I had two questions before I arrived and they were answered within the hour by the hotel management. I was actually surprised at how big the place was too! Definitely worth booking with this hotel.
The rooms are quite comfortable, clean with clean lenin and towels but very outdated especially bathrooms. Staff are excellent with great attitude and pleasing. Indian restaurant serving authentic Indian food is delicious.
ld charming building which needs to be looked after, needs refurbishment. Checked into hotel which was very quick and smiling face. Rooms are clean and spacious but need modernization. The staff were excellent , nothing was too much and served with a smile. Food was delicious and freshly cooked and authentic.
For goodness sake’s people, don’t stay at this hotel! The rooms are so dirty I wouldn’t let my dogs stay in it. The toilet had someone else’s faeces on it, someone else’s toothpaste splashes on the tiles and sink. The bath had a scum mark all around it, mould on the grout, bathroom floor was filthy and a layer of dust over surfaces. I complained to reception but there were no housekeeping staff to clean my room so I was given a bottle of bleach to do it myself. I was speaking to a few locals about this hotel and apparently it has a bad reputation. Don’t stay here folks!
I would highly recommend The Roebuck Inn Indian restaurant. On arrival we were greeted at reception and shown through to our table in the restaurant. The friendly staff looked after us very well, recommended dishes to us from the Indian menu and couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious - outstanding
It’s a nice place but outdated Brown furniture and no fridge The shower was ok and bathroom was also ok and clean, I slept well as it’s a very quiet location, but I think the hotel needs upgrade to attract new customers, maybe a party night or some kind of entertainment is definitely needed
Not great. Bed needed new matrasses. Shower had only one heath output that was way too hot. I thought i would be able to walk to knebworth park, but that wasn't the case either. All and all I wouldn't recommend staying their, although the staff were really nice.
The used to be the best place to stay in Stevenage. Where do i start? Did not like the fact there are no curtains but 3 great big floor to ceiling wooden nasty sliding boards that don't even close properly. It was awful, It was like sleeping in your old Nans bedroom! Old dated furniture, your feet stick to the carpets, The walkways are tatty with worn carpets, the windows throughout the whole building are filthy, not just dirty, but filthy This old coaching house deserves so much more.....Sorry guys you need to spend some serious money and time on this establishment..
Stayed here for 2 nights for football match at Wembley, great location just a short ride to the train station, a far cheaper option than staying in London. Good rooms , nice bar and an indian restaurant on site . Plenty parking. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
