Booked late for one night, just to go out in Stamford. Close to town centre, big room, comfortable bed and continental breakfast in the fridge in the room; cereal, toast, yoghurts, and tea, coffee and orange juice. Only niggle was hot water wasn't very hot. Good value.

On arrival, the bar area appeared very busy, however we were quickly ushered to our table in the restaurant. This area was clean, but showed signs of ageing, outdated, On to the dinner - our wine order was promptly taken and delivered to our table, the dinner orders were taken and within a reasonable time, starters arrived, attractively plated and...

Lovely old building well located for a Stamford stay. I liked the way crockery and prints felt as if they had been there for decades. Things are cared for here and not changed for the sake of it. My nice small room had all I needed for my short stay including a breakfast in the room option - good for...

As I say we could only stay one night which we both very much enjoyed. I could have stayed and talked wine and drunk Port all night with the owner, Nelio. Nice place, well situated and lovely owner. What more could you ask for? Next time Nelio, restaurant and a house red. It's got to be good, hasn't it?

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip. It was fully of charm and great value for money. The rooms are beautiful and very well provided with complementary refreshments. The owner is a highly experienced chef and the food is to die for. The restaurant is a cozy little afair and very intimate.

Four of us who had visited this restaurant a few times back in the day thought it would be good to go back and check out how it's doing. Big mistake! The restaurant is run by the same Portuguese family who have owned it for the past 40 years and, whilst the staff we met were extremely welcoming and pleasant,...

My sister-in-law was singing in the Tobie Norris restaurant/bar on NYE and invited us to pop along. Candlesticks is a quaint tucked away little hotel that ticks all boxes for a great value hotel that does what it says on the tin. 3 minutes walk and you are into the center of town. Breakfast is from your own fridge with...

Excellent service and food for our large Christmas party. The Waldorf prawn salad starter was especially tasty. The roast beef was flavourful with well cooked vegetables. My pudding was a tasty creme caramel
