Once again a perfect stay at The George. We booked for The Tattinger Champagne Evening. The food was excellent paired with fabulous champagne, hosted by Jean-Pierre from Tattinger. Well done to all the staff involved...Looking forward to the next themed evening. Top Class service and outstanding accommodation.

We checked into a spacious bedroom, which was nicely decorated, pretty blinds, large ensuite with bath and included toiletries. On arrival a half bottle of chilled champagne and a birthday card. We had dinner in the main restruant, impeccable service from waiters, delicious food including wide choice of starters, mains and desserts. Breakfast was served in the organarie, glad it...

Returning from a funeral in Cambridge and heading back up the A1 to Yorkshire we decided to stop here for a bite to eat late one Friday afternoon. The building is beautiful and it was clearly a special place and very busy! We got the last table for two near an open fire. We decided to treat ourselves to the...

We visited the George for a midweek late lunch. We opted to dine in the garden room. The hotel is very traditionally appointed and dates back donkeys years with a very interesting history. Plenty of dark wood, comfy chairs and stone mullion fireplaces etc. The main dining room is very grand. Our food was very nice - Not fine dining,...

The George is a Stamford icon, revered by many. Criticism is seen as blasphemy by locals. The building and surroundings are stunning. We have been regular visitors to the George for over twenty years, but sad to say, the quality of the food in the delightful Garden Room has seriously declined over that time. The menu has not changed materially...

Just one night in a most delightful room, afternoon coffee in front of the fire in the lounge, a wonderful dinner and breakfast, the most helpful and caring staff - what more can one ask for and only a 15 minute drive home. Perfect.
