Visited this Pub/Eatery for a Saturday evening drink and was most impressed with the ambiance, atmosphere and friendly staff. We didn't eat but plenty around us were partaking, the food looked and smelled very good. No one in the fairly busy bar and restaurant seemed to be complaining. Prices were as expected for this area.

If, as I did, you get to The Company Shed, and are told that there is not a chance of getting a meal until hell freezes over, this could be your lucky day. On the Colchester road lies the Peldon Rose, a fifteenth century pub with its own duckpond and a lovely terrace and garden shaded by willow trees. The...

Sorry to see what was a good food pub go down hill. Now only has a very limited menu, consisting of mainly fried food, containing the cheapest of ingredients and then cooked badly. Being going here to eat for over 20 years, will not go again.

Had the unfortunate experience of visiting this place for a family members funeral. Knew what to expect after reading plenty of reviews about this place and they are not wrong. Prices of drinks are outrageous, £10 glass of wine, glasses are old and marked, wine is standard. Biggest problem this place has is the attitude and manorism of the landlady...

This was my first time eating here and we brought my Mother in Law on 26th March. Its a very pretty pub with the smell of real wood fires as you walk in. There's a large light and airy conservatory for extra eating space and a beer garden. The staff were all extremely polite, helpful as well as very knowledgeable...

I have been going to this pub for many years. Went for my birthday back in January, the bar was empty. Ordered my drinks only to be told they had run out of 3 of the 4 ales. They had run out of Blue Moon and Peroni. Got our meal. the burger was cremated and the side salad was withered....

Recent visit with family. Had heard good things but was very disappointed with food and drink prices extortionate. x1 glass of red wine £10!!! Admittedly it was Malbec but not a very good one. I had the burger. Asked for it to be well done. Well, it was that. In fact so well done as to be tough as old...

So disappointed! Used to go to this pub many years ago. And loved it! Was back in area, would not go back! Menu so limited Staff didn't have any knowledge, asked for dry ginger and she didn't know what it was! Food very average.

Just stayed at The Peldon and have to say what a great place. They say it is people that make a place and all I can say is that Ellie and Izzi are an absolute credit to The Peldon. The rooms are good but it is the staff that made it a fantastic night and are the reason we will...
