Down at heel, ageing, no bar, no restaurant. Nasty little room with dirt on the walls, a psychedelic TV with 2 remotes and no instructions. A window that wouldn’t open. Entrance from the car park was littered with dog ends, old masks and take away crap. Meant to be dog-friendly but at best dog-tolerant. Only plus was a very friendly and helpful man on reception.

What an awful experience. We complained on several occasions over terrible service and we are still awaiting an acceptable outcome. They bagged our clothes in bin liners after night 1 of 2 in the morning as they came to clean and didn’t realize we had 2 nights booked. Some of our possessions were covered in shampoo and shower gel as everything was stuffed into a bag. They just said ‘oh no, that’s bad isn’t it! ‘ The worst was stating they are legally allowed to sell out of date drinks (that taste out of date btw). Would never visit again

Stayed at the County hotel, Carlisle on Saturday 18th September 2021. Room was massive, noisy, dirty and like something from the 1970s. Absolutely avoid this dump, we only booked as the nearby premier inn and IBIS were full.

This is a hotel that needs a lot of love and money spent on it. Stayed here whilst walking Hadrians wall. No bedside table on my side of bed and the 2 spare pillows in the wardrobe did not have pillowcases on . The restaurant was closed in the evening. Carpets are very worn and in some places a trip hazard. Hotels are not having the easiest of times at the moment . On a more positive note the breakfast was very good indeed and the hotel is very conveniently located for the railway station . There is an excellent Italian restaurant just around the corner .

This hotel portrays itself as something completely different on its website. The whole place bore no resemblance to the advertising. Totally misleading. The entrance and stairways are worn and dirty. The hand sanitisers dotted around didn't work. The room was totally different from what was expected and was in an unacceptable state of disrepair. Trading standards would have a field day with this hotel. Constant sound of the extractor fan at the pizza place next door all night. The floors throughout were uneven and creaked so badly we were woken up by the people upstairs using the toilet. There were burn holes in the net curtains and on the windowsill. The bathroom sink was cracked and there were 2 part used toilet rolls left on the toilet. More like a £20 a night motel than an £80+ hotel The only good thing about this disappointment calling itself a hotel was that it was a stones throw from the railway station and central to Carlisle. Would give it 0 stars if I could.
