Two of us stayed in this old coaching inn in mid May. It is usually available with 'Buy a Gift' vouchers and similar offers. The basic deal was for two nights B and B for two people sharing a double room. It's worth contacting the friendly, helpful proprietor direct as well, just in case similar value deals are available from...

Nice comfortable stay in a good area. Hotel is close to Talkin Tarn and Lanercost Priory which are both well worth a visit. The room was a reasonable size and the ensuite was very good. The food and beverages were excellent and the staff very helpful. May well be back someday.

A super family room - a double bed and two singles. Large room and huge bathroom! Very welcoming. Food in the bar was very good and a lovely atmosphere. Super service. Breakfast ok. Have had nicer and would have liked a decent coffee to start the day!

Stayed for a second time following a stay last year - conveniently located near the M6 yet in a quiet countryside corner which makes it relaxed, quiet and cosy! Amazing food in the evening (although note the 8:30pm finish for dinner orders!!!) with flavours ranging from the Eastern to pure British - very varied menu! As 3 adults we were...

Very nice cheerful staff, and a chef who makes every effort to please the customer. A well stocked bar at reasonable prices. The decor is beautiful, with lovely colour schemes. Very clean and comfortable bedroom,...

Stayed overnight and had a meal in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Evening meal was average but edible. Breakfast was good. Accommodation very nice, clean and jacuzzi bath was a pleasant surprise. Walls a bit thin though. In a quiet, nice area in a quiet village. I would go again but eat elsewhere

Hi, we've been to string of horses a half dozen times or so. They have good pub food and the service is good. It has an oldy-worldy feel to it, and locals even bring their board games for a night of it. Sometimes dogs are allowed in, if the owners know the people and their dog. If you are new...
