Could not have had a less friendly welcome. Went to the bar- only two people, no staff- you had to use a phone on the bar to summon someone. Eventually I ordered a sandwich and a coke. Such a palaver. No wonder no one was there. It was a gloomy place and the waiter was surly. I waited 10+mins for...

Booked this place at the price of £180 a night for DBB. Expected something decent 3 starish and set in this decade, albeit in an old seafront building. It's poor. We are early 50's and were very young compare to most clientele, which said something. Welcome - ok, reception area is grim and not what you would expect. Parking is...

When I stay at this hotel I feel safe and relaxed. My room is comfortable and clean with a balcony to sit on to watch the sea and the world go by. The food is excellent with a varied choice for your evening meal. The staff are friendly and helpful. The spa underneath the hotel provides a small pool, sauna...

We arrived as part of a coach party of 29. Check in was very quick and efficient. We were on the top floor - with a view of the sea and our own personal seagull. We did not need an alarm. Room was well decorated and very clean. A walk in shower suited us perfectly. Floorboards a bit squeaky and...

Room was clean & comfortable but the high point of this hotel is the excellent food & service. Over the years we have returned to this hotel for special occasions and have never been disappointed. Since our last visit the hotel has been redecorated and now sports a superb spa to add to the relaxation. Thank you for another superb...

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions over the past 4 months and I have stayed at about 4 other hotels also in Sidmouth. This is by far the nicest of all of them in terms of the ambience, the location and the size of the rooms. The hotel staff are great and nothing is too much trouble....

We are here at the hotel now. Our second visit. We have room three, a fabulous room, soooo spacious, with a lovely balcony that catches the sun most of the day. Staff are lovely, even with RUDE people! (How do you do that?) I couldn't! Brilliant! Food is very yummy.

I love everything about this hotel. Our accommodation, although basic, was very comfortable and quite adequate. I slept the night through for the first time in years. The staff were attentive and happy to be there and helpful as required from start to finish. The public rooms were beautiful, spacious, colourful, but subtly so, peaceful. The ambience was a blessing....
