Visited with my family for a cheap mid week break in the school holidays, although we got the rooms relatively cheap I expected more. We stayed in a family room with my two children. The curtains were hanging off the rail, stained bathroom with mound and a lam shape that was damaged and broken. The hotel in its former glory...

We stayed at a The Royal for 3-4 times a week over a four week period due to a relative being admitted to Scarborough Hospital. All the staff on reception were brilliant and couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant. The food was very good though one waitress could certainly try ones patience. Our room was at the front...

This was the first time we had stayed at the hotel .. we ended up in a suite which was lovely. It had 2 bedrooms plus a bathroom. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The hotel was having work done on it so there was alot of banging but that didn't put us off. The view was not great...

So I really wished I read reviews on this hotel before I went! I normally do! The positives first: A beautiful grand building in its day, I have no doubt. A lovely reception area and nice staff. The negatives: extremely poorly decorated corridors, dirty paintwork, ripped and poor curtains. The room wasn't much better! Minimal, ripped net curtain, curtains hanging...

this was our 4th visit to this hotel and we were very dissapointed at the rate this hotel is dropping in to disrepair. The general areas were very dirty toilets not cleaned and the ball room which we were told we had to eat in was dreadful also told we had to eat at 5.15 because they had a function...

The reception is just inside the entrance and for such a large hotel, its ridiculously small. Not too bad downstairs. the Theatre Bar is nicely decorated and the main room where we had our function was quite nice, even though it all looks very tired. Do not sit near the windows in the winter as there is a terrible draft....

Firstly, not the hotel's fault, but parking near the entrance to unload bags is near impossible without bring the entire town to a standstill, the road is so narrow. Parking in general in a major problem here. The hotel itself is tired the staff offhand and the food mediocre. When we were there last Saturday people were queuing up to...

I booked this hotel as a valentine break on a Groupon bed, breakfast and evening meal special.....and then I read the reviews. Unfortunately most of them are accurate. Upon arrival we were asked what time we would like to eat. I asked for about 8pm. The receptionist advised me that the last sitting was 6.15pm. I questioned her about this...
