We decided to treat ourselves to Saturday lunch after shopping. We had tried the Hare and Hounds prior to its refurbishment and the opening of its new restaurant. We were not disappointed. We both opted for the steak pie - delicious. Helped down by a pint of good bitter. Recommended.

We always stay here on way to Southampton before cruising. The rooms are well furnished and always well stocked. Lovely staff, always helpful. Great food in restaurant for evening meal. Excellent breakfast to send you on your way. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for one night on a Friday after going to the races. When we arrived in the early evening, the lady in charge went to a fair bit of trouble to squeeze us into the eating area for dinner (we had not booked dinner in advance). Meal was absolutely fine. Our room, a 'superior' in a separate building across...

Dear Michael Glad you enjoyed your stay, perhaps next time we might get a 4 rating! We do try to contact all our guests on busy weekends to see if they wish to book dinner. Unfortunately many online booking sites don't supply contact details for some perverse reason. ---- Even more reason to book direct on our website through the...

We stayed 3 nights in a suite at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Only comment would be that the windows are old and ill-fitting, which might be a problem if staying in the winter. We had excellent service from the staff during our stay. They responded immediately and fixed a problem with shower water pressure, and provided...

Dear poppys Thank you for your great review The menu you chose from was our set 2 course lunch, but we do have a full menu and daily specials. I think your party decided to do the £9.95 two course menu, perhaps next visit you may have a better choice, sorry. Claire sends her apologies, sometimes when you have l;oyal...

Reading the last review i couldn't help but post a report. I am in no way associated with this establishment (I live in Bangkok so couldn't be further away). I stay here last week for 3 nights and i'm now here again for a further 4 nights. The staff (including the owner) have always been attentive, friendly, relaxed and professional....

Dear ScubaBoy At times reviews can be quite cutting both for all of us here and in the last case, (and the first time ever), personally! The joy is that the fact they matter so much to us all means we really do care deeply about our customers and their enjoyment. Your review was very welcome and it has been...

Dear Sir My personal apologies for this misunderstanding. I was actually midway through a wedding tasting with a couple. I did actually attempt to make eye contact and also believed I had apologised. Perhaps this was missed and as such not clear, again my mistake. Other guests would assure you that I am most professional at all times and I...

Dear Ellie We do believe that we offer good value within our town's marketplace and you would appear to agree.
