Stayed in this hotel initially they tried to put me in a dank dusty and damp smelling room with no tv reception . I objected strongly and the alternative room was light clean and airy. The meal was ok and cheap Breakfast was fine ok for a quick stop but nothing spectacular

Haven't been very impressed in the past, but the new managers Peter & Katherine are doing a great job with standards and atmosphere. Very helpful and professional, breakfast was really good as well. Here's to a new era at The Bacon Arms.

Under new management, the Bacon Arms is a place on the up - spotlessly clean, comfortable, excellent breakfast, classy hospitality and an above average pint in the welcoming bar. Having visited here before in its' previous incarnation, I am genuinely elated by the massive improvement that the new management have brought with them. I had a single room and it... More

Spot on location , just a walk from the town centre and river. The bed was comfy and had coffee / tea / biscuits etc. Added bonus were the two bottles of water ( which is something we usually forget to take back to the room ) Parking at the rear was very handy but make sure you register your... This place does not pretend to be a hotel, in its own words it's a pub with rooms. That said there are certain things one expects from any type of accommodation. To start with I booked directly with the hotel and was quoted £46 for the room for the night, when we arrived they gave me a bill £157 for... More

So I stayed at The Bacon Arms last Saturday. Firstly our room was a twin, not a double, and had a pipe coming out of the wall inbetween the heads of the beds. It wasn't boxed just had been painted over. The toilet had a bit of poo still on the bowl so clearly hadn't been cleaned well enough. The... More

Absolute hole. Paid £90 for a room for the night, ended up with a twin instead of double, bathroom light didn't work, toilet hadn't been cleaned, room was of an incredibly poor standard and not clean. Waste pipe from adjacent room coming through the wall between the beds. Would not be staying here again!

Stayed here for a night. Check-in was quick and the car registration system was easy to use. Our room, it has to be said, had its faults; the floor was incredibly uneven, the bathroom door was difficult to open and the TV remote was covered in some weird powdery substance, like granular dust. However, the room itself was clean and... More

Old dated pub but clean and quirky and staff really friendly Noisy until the bar shuts at 12 pm over the weekend but didn't bother us as we had dinner out and then a few beers. Landlady really helpful Sally and gave us a bottle of proseco as we arrived as it was our anniversary.
