Room was warm and bed comfortable. Bathroom was a bit shabby. What looked like a sitting room on the photos is actually a thoroughfare with a glass window showing the hair salon that is accessed through the hotel. The music and noise from the salon could be heard loudly during the day. We had wanted a nap because we were...

Excellent location. Parking, shops, and restaurants nearby. Decent twin room. Clean but a little tired. Issue others down at just past our room door, could not lock it, needed to ask to have it locked for us on the 2 occasions we went out. Breakfast 8-9:30. We went down just after 9 to an empty breakfast room. We were the...

We travelled from London and wanted to get west of the Severn before the bank holiday traffic builds up on Friday. Chepstow provided the perfect location. The B&B did what it said and was good value and well located. Public car park virtually opposite. A comfortable room with a slightly small double bed and a decent shower. The breakfast was...

Large attic bedroom, furnishings a little tired and some fittings (lights above bathroom mirror) not working/finished off. Freshly cooked breakfast with friendly and attentive staff. Overall, a pleasant B&B in a great location to explore Chepstow but one night will do it for sure. Recommend the The Lime Tree and Mamma Mia. The property has an Artisan Pizza business, the...

The First Hurdle is perfectly located, cosy, warm, clean and very well priced. Plus, the owners have recently opened up a really good Pizza restaurant (on-site) as well. If I'm in the area again and need somewhere to stay, (or something to eat), it's where I'm going to go...

My wife and I stayed her for a few days while we were traveling in England. It was exactly the type of place we were looking for. Clean, comfortable, & affordable. And they have real Italian pizza served fresh! We will definitely be back.

We stayed here for a night with the intention of going into the town to have a few glasses of wine and be able to relax and enjoy a night away. The hotel is very conveniently located. Check in was easy and the gentleman carried our bags to the room for us which was lovely. On arrival we spoke about...

I was in the Chepstow area for work and picked the First Hurdle for my nights stay. I travel regularly for work and encounter many varying standards of accommodation but am happy to report that this was one of the better ones I’ve come across in recent years. The place was warm and cosy, everything was up together with the...

We've just had a wonderful stay at the first hurdle and want to thank Scott for his help and hospitality during our stay. Our room was warm and cosy, we liked how it was decorated and the location is fantastic right in the centre of chepstow. If we come back to the area we will definitely stay again and are...
