The hotel is in an ideal location, right by the train station x close to all amenities. In its heyday, it would have been stunning! These days, it's ragged around the edges and in need of a little TLC..but overall, good value.

I've stayed here on and off every May for several years and it's typical of the kind of faded glory type of place you find all over the Peak District. It has large, high-ceilinged rooms and solid fitments and fittings - except for the modern annex at the rear with rooms more akin to a Travelodge. But on this occasion...

A lovely hotel in Buxton. Yes the rooms are a little tired but they are clean and comfortable. The Public areas of the hotel are lovely and the reception staff polite and very knowledgeable. Restaurant staff are really lovely and get that "strong tea please" without any hesitation. The hotel management are bringing this lovely building slowly but surely into...

My dad had booked this hotel as he had a two day business meeting and thought that due to my recovery from an operation and what was listed on the website this would be a perfect hotel. Although the check in was positive and to be told we had been given one of the good suites. From opening the hotel...

We stayed here on a very good value Groupon deal that included one nights stay with dinner, wine and breakfast and it was very good value for money. The hotel itself is very grand if a little worn around the edges. Our room was warm and comfortable and big enough for our needs. The lift to our third floor room...

We spent a weekend here at the end of April. The staff and the surroundings were lovely. Huge clean room, with good facilities and views over Buxton and beyond. Bed a little uncomfortable but all in all very nice. We had a Groupon weekend deal which included a meal with a bottle of wine on the first night and breakfast...

We went on a Groupon deal and stayed one night, it was excellent, from the moment we arrived to when we left; check in was speedy the staff were efficient and we were settled within our room within 10 minutes of arriving. We had a delicious 3 course evening meal with a bottle of wine included, the staff were attentive...

Visited over the weekend and had a nice stay. A bit of guess work when it came to finding our room because of a lack of signs and it felt ages away from the main staircase. We seemed to be right at the back of the hotel down many different corridors but it looked as though it was newly refurbished!...

Looked impressive from the outside but dated and in need of some tlc inside. The pool was nothing like the web site picture and dowdy, decided not to go in. Dirty glass at the bar, dirty cup at breakfast ands blocked sink in our room. Breakfast unimpressive no fresh fruit only tinned fruit and tinned mushrooms. Overall not impressed.
